My mother-in-law told me how her dad was glued to the TV the past couple of days watching the healthcare debate. He's 90 years old, sharp as a tack and a veteran of the Pacific and Korea. She later said how upset he was over the outcome. I could not help but feel ashamed and embarrassed, after watching the Pacific on HBO and seeing what these guys did to preserve their/our liberty, freedoms and way of life and then contrasting that to the ***** hats in washington who are doing everything they can to destroy our liberties, freedoms and way of life. I can't help but feel that some of these old guys would not have done what they did if they knew what America was to become and I can't blame them if they do.

I wonder how many of America's bravest buried at Normandy or in the Pacific would feel about giving the ultimate sacrifice so a Kenyan could one day enslave us and make us all buy a product from a private company under threat of imprisonment of how they would feel knowing the next step is to make all illegals legal just to maintain the pinkos power.

How does everyone else feel? Were the lives of our greatest wasted only in an effort to delay what has become the inevitable enslavement by a totalitarian government, in this case the democrats?

Obama is doing exactly what he said he would - "spread it around a little bit" - and we're paying for it. I refuse to drink their kool-aide - the fine print on the label states that it contains arsenic.

Our founding fathers and veterans that paid the price for our freedom must be rolling in their graves.

But that doesn't give people the right to spit on people and call them racial slurs we just went back in time people are just showing there true color racism still very much alive.

Nobody had nothing to say when George Bush was spending all there money on 200.00 hammers and other spending and wasted spending.

With all due respect, the Greatest Generation makes up the majority of voters (at least in my area). People in my Generation are too apathetic to vote. At my polling station there were several hundred folks voting, at 32 I was by far the youngest person there. The average was between 60-70 (based on casual observation).

So, inasmuch as we want to talk about the "Greatest Generation" as a collective, they voted for the folks in power now.

As ones who voted against him and plan to vote against those who voted for this healthcare reform, I don't feel WE let down the Greatest Generation.

No, I don't think the GIs who fought in WWII were thinking about what our country might become, etc. I think they were fighting to preserve their country as it was.

And yes, I think we let them down. I think the problem began when the civil rights movement became co-opted by the socialists. We let them change a fight to right a wrong into something that it wasn't. We let them change it from "let's fix this problem with our society" to "the society must be completely changed".

We threw out the baby with the bathwater.

I take issue with the race card "crap" Yes he is half (white American and half black Kenyan) notice I did not make any reference to him being any way (black American) because he is not. The real issue is; Is he an American? Theodore Roosevelt put it best "There is no place in America for Hyphenated Americans" Most Americans could care less the color of his skin tone but are more interested in if his heart is RED WHITE & BLUE.

While I disagree with Brokaw that "It is, I believe, the greatest generation any society has ever produced.", we have not let anybody down, yet.

Several states AGs are fighting this. It ain't over!

Hmmm ... I'm going to guess that this 90 year old fella was "glued" to a particular channel too. You know ... the one with the huge letters that are "easier" to read and all the fancy red white and blue graphics and flags waving in the background. The "fair and balanced" one ... you know.

I know these types of folks very well ... because I have them in my extended family. In fact I have one older gentlemen in my family that has done/does the exact same thing. Plants himself in front of that "news" channel virtually all day and frets over the the same evil socialist takeover.

You know what is especially funny and ironic ... this same gentleman had an organ transplant a little over a year ago. VIRTUALLY PAID IN FULL BY MEDICARE!

I don't have the heart to debate him ....

I didn't say it wasn't, I was just saying I think it is the young crowd that is responsible for obama, not the older people.

It is their right to vote but it is their duty to educate themselves a bit and make an educated decision. Plenty of videos on the internet from Jay Leno etc pointing out what morons were out voting, that doesn't do any good. It isn't supposed to be a popularity contest.

Um, the Greatest Generation? You mean the ones who were so apathetic about their country that they raised the Baby Boomers (BB) with such a sense of hate of country that they have fundamentally changed who we are as a nation? The Greatest Generation (GG) is the reason we are here. They did an amazing thing during WWII but since then have been complete and utter crap. The Greatest Generations kids (Baby Boomers) **** on the military in the 60's and 70's while throwing a huge fricking fit because the world was not exactly to their liking. Then the GG watched as their BB kids did all the drugs in the world during the 70's and then decided "Greed is good" in the 80's.

They may have saved the world in the 30's - 40's - 50's but they sure screwed the pooch when it came to infusing the same sense of self-reliance and love of country into their children. And that my friends, is why we are where we are at this point.
