G color means near colorless, which is good. VVS1 mean Very Very Small Inclusions, which is the next best thing to a flawless stone. .89 carat means the stone is around 6 to 6.3 mm diameter, and a little shy of a carat. The 4th C is cut, which can't be determined from the pic posted. It may be listed on the stone's cert.

Form what I can see you got a real good deal on the rock and the setting is beautiful. I think she and you will both love it for years to come. I wish you many happy years together.

Thanks alot folks:supergrin: My sister knows someone who gets diamonds so thats why I got it at the price I did.

Trevor please dont remind me lol, but I am happy with what I have at the moment. I have thought about that alot but always am happy I went the route I did. It was actually the easiest money I have spent. I thought ti would be one of those things that would hurt, but besides draining my bank account I am very happy with my purchase.

Adams, what would she have spent that kinda money onme for? She has given me plenty in the past...

Usually the girls don't do that. But then again, they aren't expecting us guys to 'deliver' a 7 or 8 pound kid after luggin' it around for 9 months.:wow:

Women folk are pretty crafty, so ya's gotta' bait them in with something shiny,,then pounce on them when they're distracted!

If I can offer you one suggestion about that stone..

Since it's an exceptional quality stone you have to be careful of someone switching it out. If you're in a jewelry store and the salesman offers to take it in the back and clean it you should decline. It only takes a skilled person a minute to switch and put a lesser stone or fake in the setting and that's almost impossible to prove.

Most jewelers would never do this, but there's always that one bad apple.

Also, don't forget to get it insured. We have a rider on our homeowners to cover my wife's rings.

Congrats, good luck, I have been happily married for over 20 years. I wonder wha SAKO TRG-22s are going for now? Just kidding. We were poor college students when we got married and i used a stone that had been in my family(a small one) and paid like 125$ for the setting. A few years ago my dying grandmother who adored my wife gave her a ring with a bunch of big stones in it and we used those and my wife's original engagement stone(dwarfed) and put in a setting. We both still wear the plain, cheap wedding bands, and always will. Again good luck
