    Which do you choose?
Say you can make about twenty grand more and live in a place where you can't shoot and hunt on demand , but have nice restaurants ; which do you choose?

I definitely choose and have chose fun and fame over wealth like make suster and cousins.

    Your options aren't mutually exclusive.

I can shoot out my back door and have a square mile of my own woods to play in. In 20 minutes I can be eating high on the hog in town. In an hour I can be:

    In the mountains/snow
    Big city for people/food/nightlife/shows/whatever
    Temperate rainforest
    Beach/dunes

A bit longer than that and I can be in the desert.

Ain't options great? To answer your question, I'll take both.

Worst case scenario: Bite the bullet, collect the cash then move to a gun friendly rural area upon having a stuffed bank account.

Well, I can't really shoot on demand right now. I can go to a gun range when they are open, but I can't go out the back door.

That's sort of a "would you rather be fat and happy or skinny and sad" sort of question. Tough to answer without more context, but in general, life's too short to be miserable, at any price.

I would like to be able to do what I want to enjoy or entertain myself. I don't require an active social life to have fun. I make my own entertainment myself, or with my family. Other people are ok. I just don't need much of them in my life.

People that need others to feel valued, think something is wrong with those that don't feel this way, and want to label them as "wrong".

I've always chosen free time over money. I didn't even have a job until I was like 22. And although it wasn't the only reason I became a teacher, it was definitely part of it. I always wanted to have summers off to spend time with my family. Since I've had kids I've never worked a summer school session. Last year I only worked the normal 185 day year.

Although I like nice things I don't have to have them. Would rather have time with family than things.

I live in a rural area, all the jobs are low pay but I can shoot off my deck (if the wife isn't home) I can and do open carry and LEO's don't notice or care. I can drive 20 minutes and have decent food, the next town down is home to the world famous Barter Theatre which we enjoy. We have a pontoon on the lake which we enjoy on the weekend. We are not rich but do ok. I could loose the rural life and move 2 hours in either direction and we would both make a lot more money but this is home and both of our families live close.

Twenty grand isn't enough to make a difference either way.

I've got everything I need and the money to enjoy it. All I really want is to live in good health as long as possible. Otherwise, there's no either-or.

Nah, I just started drinking again after a long hiatus. Takes some time to relearn the takki takki.

So the choice is poor and happy or rich and miserable? I'll take well off and moody, thank you.

That is not wealth vs fun. That is "enough and where you want to be, vs a little more and where you dont want to be."

You dont even quantify the numbers or the locations.

To set up "wealth vs fun" you have to make the difference a very real jump up. "50 grand a year on the perfect place" vs "250 grand a year on a less than perfect place" where they both have similar costs of living. With that kind of change in income, you can buy a lot of things you always wanted to do, including still doing whatever you likes about the other places, on a much grander scale.

I have heard that greater amounts of money do not equate to increasing amounts of happiness. Billionaire and Alibaba guru Jack Ma said he was happiest before he became a billionaire and was a teacher.
