My wife's beloved 12 year old poodle broke its back leg just before New Years eve. She was blind and had ligament problems before and so we decided it would be best to put her down. My wife said she wanted to get another poodle so I suggested we adopt a standard poodle this time. I have always preferred labs and retrievers myself but learned that poodles are great retrievers and very smart. Anyway we are picking up a one year old rescue tomorrow.

We are still trying to decide on a name. Please provide your suggestions. Poodles are from Germany and the name comes from pudel or water I believe.

Can't help you with a name but years ago our neighbors had a Standard Poodle named "Bridget". By far, the smartest dog I've ever seen.

I guess you will have to get her and see what name comes to mind. I try to use human names for my dogs. The poodle pictured is very pretty. Poodle's are nice dogs and make pretty darn good pets. Congrats on the new pet and condolences on the loss of your old best friend.

The dog is a male. He was part of a group of poodles found malnurished, and grew up with very little human contact. The rescue has been working with him though and he is now very friendly and should make a great dog once he puts some weight on and we spend time with him.

We have 2 poodles ourselves, Cocoa is a brown mini and Enzo is a black toy. I think a cute name for a white poodle could be Coca

As you think of names, keep in mind that you it may be a standard poodle now, but perhaps you'll get a hankering to modify it one day.

Nice looking dog, no name ideas though, we name mostly on behavior or personality.

I prefer Labs and Rotties, but currently have an in-family Boxer rescue. My Mom and Dad had two poodles. The male toy was an amazingly intellegent dog. He was named Talouse Lautrec, (short and "French", lol).
He was called Touse. The second was a female minature named Nicole. She was dumb as dirt.
