VP Pence is purely a tie breaker vote. He can/will only vote in the event of a 50-50 tie.

The President of the Senate's Role in the Legislative Process

"Vice presidents cannot vote in the Senate, except to break a tie, nor may they formally address the Senate, except with the senators' permission. Initially vice presidents appointed senators to standing committees, regulated access to the galleries and supervised the keeping of the Senate Journal, but these duties were later removed."

If the 50 47 would be 50 yes votes and 47 no, therefore no tie.

Looks like Mitt is on board. I was very worried about him.

Surprised as well. Wonder what his angle is? Maybe he just wants to be on the winning side.

If DJT knows for certain that he has the votes then I say push on but if DJT knows he doesn’t there’s no use starting a civil war in the GOP just before an election. I’m certain that the Democrats would love a war inside the GOP over this just before a critical election.

She reminds of the late Kelly Preston, a sight for my sore eyes.

Nope, no more worrying about the ‘party’, no more shrinking from battles with the disgusting Dems. Great things are accomplished by great men, acting at just the right time in history. #FilltheSeat

Now that the GOP has the vote, I predict the democrats will offer the republicans whatever Covid stimulus bill they want to hold off on the vote for Amy Barrett. I think the GOP should hold off for more however.

I think the Republicans should do nothing less than wield the power given to give by the law and the procedural processes the Democrats put into place.

I wouldn't give a **** if a stimulus bill was offered that would amount to wiping out all my existing debt...which isn't insubstantial, given the recent purchases of a new home, tractor, and student loans coming due. Installing a young Justice that will solidify the court's conservative majority for the next generation is worth more than money can buy.

Hell, assuming the R's are in a position to do so after the election, they should follow through with the left's threat to stack the court. Expand and fill that bad boy with young ultra conservative judges and give the bird to the left.

    **** them.

Forget the stimulus bill. FILL THE SEAT! Ten years from now there will be another POTUS, but there will still be a conservative on the SCOTUS.

I agree 100%. But the Dems have nothing procedurally they can do to stop the appointment and confirmation in time for the election so, I can see them offering some kind of Quid Pro Quo or “deal” to prevent the inevitable.

Even RINO Mitt Romney is looking to be voting to confirm the pick. Wow.

Ocasio-Cortez goes back to working at Hot-Dog-On-A-Stick... Pelosi as a dog catcher in SF... Schumer can go back to running his deli in the Bronx.

And then we’ll think about it.

That can happen if they want to work within the laws.

If Russia, Impeachment, Kavanaugh give any hint at all, I would say they're not bound by the laws, at all.

It's time for us to think how to protect our country from actions outside of the laws.
That's a bit closer to civil disobedience than many here are comfortable with.

Looking less and less likely that there will be an internal GOP battle over this. Collins get her cover for her election and the nominee will be confirmed.

No one's happier to be wrong about the way this nomination is playing out than I am, with the caveat that it ain't over until the Chief Justice swears the new justice in.

    But for now...
