I got my first Ak(WASR) for a christmas gift. Im not a purist, so since I got the AK for free I decided to give it a makeover. I spent most of my budget on the EOtech and ammo, but did the best I could with what I had left. here is some pics of what I got so far, I wont be able to put it together until I get out of Iraq. What do you all think? I know its not the best out there. My apologies to the Purist out there!!!
At first, I was a purist when it came to AKs, but after seeing some stuff on this site, I'd love to have another AK and do exactly what you're doing! I want some OD green Tapco furniture, and a good side scope mount. Make sure you post pics of the finished product!! It's gonna look great!!
My only real criticism is of the magazines. There are worse mags than Tapco, but not many. I'd get some Eastern European 30rd mags whenever your budget allows.
My other concern is how high that EoTech is going to sit. There will be no such thing as cheek weld with that side mount and an EoTech. You can add a cheek riser to get your head up to where it needs to be, but I'd get an UltiMak mount when funds allow. It's a more solid mount and will be much lower. Other than that it just comes down to taste. Stay safe over there.
I wanted OD green also but I have a M4 in OD. I was looking at the Ulitimaks but that was more than I could spend maybe I can talk my wife into getting it for a welcome home gift. Almost bought a kalinka mount but they were sold out. I didnt think about the cheek rest, Thanks for the input. You all be safe back in the states, I think things over there are almost as bad as here.
I cant wait to get home and putting it together with my wife and taking here to the range, Im such a romantic!! I will make sure to post some pics when Im done.
Yeah, it is pretty fun. Good online action. The reason I ask is that the Ak in the game is completely tapco'ed out with everything you have pictured

OH Thats Great, I will probably get sued for copyright infringment. Now when I go to the range all the F*$# Sticks that shoot their 9mm Highpoints will try to tell me how to shoot it because of their video game combat skills :steamed:

I wouldnt know. The range is more of a dirt pit, and the distance changes every week depending on how much dirt the tractors took away:rofl:. but I like it there, you can shoot anything u want.. ie Propane tanks, not that I ever did that :whistling:. tv's, or whatever u find that would be fun to shoot. You just have to pick your trash up when done
:faint:You guys are right about the Ak. It might work out to my advantage I can tell them its a "Call Of Duty Special Addition AK47" and sell it for double the price. Now I have to get that GPS thing on his wrist
Everyone should have at least one classic plain wood AK. Then you should have a bunch more to goof with!
I think the EOTech will be AOK on the rail. It's a heads up sight anyway. You should be looking through the lense to be fast, and the donut to be accurate. Cheek weld is for range princesses (<= absolutely intended to aggravate).
And the Ultimak is not the best thing since picatinny. It places weight out the barrel, it gets hot, and it's not QR (not that you can't get a QR mount for the sight..), not to mention monster expensive for that little rail patch!
That's the only thing I would have changed - I'd have gotten a QR side mount.
as for the mags, I have some of those. Totally functional and sturdy. The metal mag dudes are purists. Ignore them. But everyone should have a box full of those too!
I havent shot one here. I am a .50 cal gunner. But ive been shot at with one if that counts.
