    Hello all.

I am a fairly new shooter. A number of people suggested that I purchase a Glock as my first, so I bought a used Glock 21SF.

Did I make the right choice? Should I have chosen a different pistol/brand as my first cherry poppin pistol? I considered the Beretta 92, but price was a factor.

Wo else chose a Glock as their first, and which model?

My first pistol was a glock 22. I would say you made the right choice. Berettas are ugly IMO.

My first gun was a Springfield XDm Compact 40. It is an awesome gun but I like my Glock 30SF more.

I have a 21SF and it's a great first gun. Not great for carrying, but in terms of getting comfortable with a handgun, it's perfect. Nice job!

Glock 23 was my first firearm. I've bought and sold many guns since that time, my current collection is a Gen4 Glock 17, Gen3 Glock 26, Gen3 Glock 30SF, Kahr PM9, LCP, and an AR..

My first gun was a year or three before the first Glock was built, so no. That said, to the OP - congratulations on your G21. There are choices that may be less expensive to shoot but that does not make them better as first guns, only less expensive.

A Kel Tech 380 was my first pistol because of the price factor. Lol. I think Glock is a GREAT gun to have as your first. They are great on price and a good gun to start you off learning on how to clean, etc because they are pretty simple compared to some other brands.

BB Gun, then a Ruger 22 LR, and my first centerfire pistol was a Glock 17 9mm.

When I bought my first pistol, Gaston Glock was just a gleem in his daddy's eye,
when he looked at a pretty girl.

By the way, it was a Colt 1911.
...and Colt was the only manufacturer of 1911 pistols back then.

    I'm old.:fred:

Glock was not even thought of when I got my first handgun a S&W model 24 in 44 special.
Even when I did get my first Glock G17 in 1986 it only took me twenty minutes to trade it off.
Since then Glock has wormed their way into my life, for the better. SJ 40

A first generation G17 in 1987. Now I did own a SW model 19 so it was not my first handgun but was my first automatic. My second auto was a Beretta 92SB and then a G19. I still have the G19.

My first, and only, pistol is the gen3 17 that I own to this day. I have to say that I am very pleased with it. The only problem is that I can't stop modifying/ordering parts for it!

There is no right or wrong gun as long as you shoot well with it and serves your ultimate purpose. With that said my first was a M&P 45FS.

My first handgun, that I still have, is a S&W 629-2 44 Mag Mountain Gun.
At the time I really wanted a full size 45 Sig Sauer P220 (which I got later).
But after a week of Dirty Harry movies and I bought a Hand Cannon.
At the time I pretty much promised myself I'd never own a Glock.
And more over, after the FBI Miami shootout, no 9mm gun period.

    Ironically, 15+ years and seven handguns later;
one of my favorites is a Glock EXO G27 with a Storm Lake 40-9mm barrel.
    Loaded with Winchester Ranger T-Series 127 gr +P+ 9mm.

    Never say never - LOL!

My first pistol was a Ruger. I have more glocks than any other brand.

    Enjoy your new gun.
