Take a look at the link above, all I have to add is that if you do not have access to a dremel tool, just stick a 20 gauge brass brush into a chuck of a power drill....push brush into barrel....and polish away, LOL!!!

I KNOW!! I KNOW!!! sounds stupid but I do have a dremel and tried this method out and it works 2 times as fast.
Just be careful. I then just used a tee shirt, stretched it out tight and polished out the flats moving the barrel not the cloth...........

Just my method. It worked out really well.

I also skipped the whole vinegar route.

rinse barrel with dish washing soap (get all the oil out)let it sit 1 1/2 hours in vinegar, rinse, and polish away with mothers mag polish...Ive done all my Glocks that way,and have a mirror finish...Thinking about doing my slide next on my G19...

I didn't soak mine at all. Just used Scotchbrite to get most of the black off then used Mothers mag polish for that mirror like finish. It took a while but turned out great.

I have a dremel tool, what tool parts do I need and if I do it the Dremel route, what's the step by step process and what do I need to be careful of? Can I Damage the barrel by doing it this way?

So I know that some turn their nose up to the vinegar method...why is that? I'd be hard pressed to believe the vinegar would somehow hurt the barrel in any way...

Vinegar is not needed. It still takes the same amount of time to polish with a dremel. I do wash the barrel with dish soap to get all the oil off though.

What does polishing the bbl do for your gun? Other than a shiney bbl, and would you not have to keep it polished to keep it that way? Just curious.
