Very new to GSSF matches. 2nd comp coming up next week. I've read through the rules and think I'm good but just want to make sure.

Gen 3 G17 with ss guide rod, ghost trigger, tru glo tfo's and a hogue grip is legal for amciv and comp class, correct?

Also, the one match I've attended did not have a station to check the gun. Are we all on the honor system or should I expect to see this in the future?

Went back and re-read rules again. Which mod makes it illegal? If anything, I'm guessing the trigger mod but I'm having trouble connecting it to specific language in the rules. Sorry to be ignorant but the rules don't appear to be clear to me.

Wrong! The mods that make it illegal for both Am/Civ and Competition categories are the non factory internals:

    1. stainless steel guide rod
    2. Ghost connector

Stock = Stock. It's that simple.

Basically, unless everything (except sights) are made by Glock, you'll have to shoot in Unlimited.

Pearce floorplates on magazines are an exception to this.

Pearce bases are only allowed on subcompact magazines.

If you put a non-Glock part IN the gun, it is illegal for any category but unlimited.

Specific modifications to the outside of the gun (all of which are non permanent) are listed in the rules.

Your Ghost trigger and SS recoil set up are believed to be items that would give you a competitive advantage, and thus, are illegal mods.

40.20 Stock GLOCK Definition. For the Amateur-Civilian,
    Amateur-Guardian, Amateur or Master-Subcompact,
Amateur or Master-Heavy Metal, Amateur or Master-
    Competition, Amateur or Master-MajorSubcompact
and Amateur and Master-Master Stock divisions:
    GLOCK FIREARMS ARE CONSIDERED
TO BE “STOCK” IF ALL FIREARM COMPONENTS
ARE OR EVER HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE
FROM GLOCK, INC. EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE
    SPECIFICALLY PROVIDED BELOW.
If any component is not or has never been available
from GLOCK, Inc. or if the firearm has been physically
modified except as otherwise specifically noted
below, it is not “stock” and is therefore restricted to
use in the Amateur or Master-Unlimited division only.

    40.30 Allowable Modifications to “Stock”
    • “Hogue Grip”-type sleeves, “A-Grip” panels, “skateboard
tape” or other grip-enhancing materials that do
not materially alter the function of the stock firearm
    • Slide and barrel stripping and/or refinishing
    • Pearce Grip, Inc. grip extenders only on G26, G27,
    G29, G30, G33, G36 and G39 magazines
    • Aftermarket replacement non-metallic base plates on
    magazines
    • Post and notch sights (“patridge” sights) excluding
any sight requiring slide modifications. Please note
that fiber-optic and “express” sights are approved.
You may use any combination of GLOCK-produced
firearms parts that do not result in a significant competitive
advantage in the Stock divisions and that are,
in the sole opinion of the match armorer, safe to utilize.

    Seems pretty clear to me.

pretty much honor system. but if the armorer or an ro spots an illegal mod, your score will be moved to unlimited. one of the things I really like about GSSF is the level playing field- I hate equipment races almost as much as anti-gun politicians. Leave your gun stock, shoot it the way it is, and learn proper technique. this is going to go a LOT farther than dropping some trick part in the gun.

I doubt that an armorer will be concerned about the match rules. They would not know if the gun were to be used in Unlimited division (where most anything is legal) or not unless you told them not or unless they asked. Further, you can bring any Glock to the match for the armorer to check out, even if you do not shoot it in the match.

The armorers' jobs are complicated enough without them having to sort out the match rules.

Just watch out for the RO's... especially SARDG. :tongueout:

bottom line shoot the gun stock and earn your wins do not try to buy points with BS modifications.other than sights keep the gun as it left the factory. GSSF is won with sound fundamental technique not trick gear.

I must of misunderstood some of the other post here, I thought I could offset my lack of shooting skills by adding gadgits and widgits and replacing the stock parts on my guns. Where's Mike; I bet he could set us all straight on this.

There is no gun check. You're on the honor system for internals. It's also up to the ROs to enforce the rules...so if you choose to ignore the rules, and they notice your SS guide rod when your gun is locked open, your entry may be reassigned to Unlimited...where that part's perfectly legal.

I as just a competor saw a stainless barrel

I told the guy he was in unlimited.

He quickly removed a stock barrel from his bag and installed it.

My guess he was trying to cheat and got caught.
