    Selling the Benz.

Gonna pay cash for a new (or used) car

    Priorities are:

    Gas mileage #1 #1 #1
Quality/Luxury (I am Eurodriver but I am not rich)
No brands that start with a Hy- or a Ki-.
Still has at least 10,000 miles or 1 year of factory power train (minimum) warranty left.
    Manual transmission

Soft price ceiling of $20,000 (if its $20,142 thats ok. If its $22,142 thats not ok)

Im liking an '09 BMW 128i available in my area.

Wait a year and you will be able to find low mileage Scion FRS that is right on the money and options of what you are looking for.

Sounds like you already know what you want. Your second requirement ("eurodriver") limits you to a late model entry level audi, BMW, etc. Might want to look at a VW for better bang for the buck.

Maybe you can get a Peugeot. That will satisfy your need for being Eurodriver, get good mileage, and be cheap!

Will never give up a Honda over a Beamer. Just me though. I love ED's threads though.

I hadn't looked into these, thanks.

Hell man, I should just PM you when I have an actual thread, you always seem to have great answers.

My gf's dad just pre-ordered a Scion FRS. I'll wait until he gets his and see if he has any problems. I suppose I can always ride the bike for a while or wait to sell my car.

I have nothing against Hyundais or Kias, they're great cars for the money and the warranty is unbelievable. (Is it still 10yrs/100k miles?)

I just can't go from a Mercedes to a Kia, as lame and pathetic as that sounds, it is what it is.

Edit: I just realized I made a completely legitimate thread without any condescending remarks toward anyone or anything.

    What the hell?

Mileage #1, #!, #1 limits you to a small car - Corolla or Civic, etc. $20K can get you a nice Certified Camry or Accord with a 100K warranty. But, they won't get the mileage of the smaller car.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Is the new Scion FRS the one with the Subaru engine? Motor week said it was nothing special. If you go to their PBS web site you can probably find the segment on that car. It is gooood lookin'. Should have the WRX engine!

    Good luck. :wavey:

    I'm liking the Mazda 3's.

40 MPG highway. 25 city. $16k brand new. Manual tranny. 36,000/36mo basic warranty + 60,000/60mo powertrain warranty plus "complimentary" oil changes and scheduled maitenance for the first year. (Not sure if thats BS, but thats what they're advertising)

    Thoughts?

Also, I've never paid cash for a car. If the asking price is $15,900 and I go in with hundred dollar bills (Or a checkbook, but $$$ may talk more) what should I offer? This is on a brand new vehicle.

My dad always told me to deal with cash. As far as I know the dealer gets his money regardless of you paying cash or financing. They either get it from you, the bank, or their finance arm.

I like Toyota and Honda - Mazda (Ford), Nissan, Hyundai, etc seem to be a step lower - certainly in 'down the road' trade value.

Don't you read what you post? It is what it is.:ender:

    Get a Hyundai Equus, move up from Grandma's Mercedes.:tongueout: Or a Genesis R-Spec 5.0:alex:.

The dealer makes additional profit if he sells you financing.
