Just have to say that a AR15 as gun of the month at the worlds largest general retailer says something about the state of possible gun control in the general opinion of American society. They could have picked a "safe" bet and went with a bolt action hunting rifle or shotgun but went with a gun that some in society see as "bad". Bravo :)

That might be changing, more and more stores are bringing back firearms. Hope yours does.

Me too. I wouldn't mind a decent selection. How are their prices on guns and ammo?

    Good.

    Some examples:

    Colt 6920 AR15 $1062
    Sig Sauer Model 400 AR15 $800
    Ruger American .270/30-06/.243 $357

Ammo prices are good as well.

Lucky, mine doesn't stock firearms at all. They stock a decent variety of calibers, very poor variety of brands though, and a small amount of accessories. They seem to be extremely lacking in the firearm category, so count yourself lucky if your walmart sells firearms.

Sad they don't carry handguns. I remember when their display counter was well stocked with handguns and if they didn't have what you wanted, they would order it for you.

I ordered quite a few, back in the day. I haven't bought a firearm from them since they 'caved' and quit selling/displaying handguns.

I don't buy a lot of ammo from them anymore either. I do stop and look at their selection and prices ever so often. But I prefer to buy from my local gun shop or online. I'd rather support a place that caters to all gun owners.

Still carry handguns in Alaska at Wal-Mart. Who knows what the future holds :)

I'm waiting for this to come to my local Wally World.

The Ginger at the gun counter in Walmart told me.. "Walmart does not sell handguns because the profit margin is too small."

This sound like B.S. to me.

Anyone know the typical mark-up % at a guns store. What does a FFL pay vs retail.

I would imagine the markup is basically the same long gun / hand gun. Margin is not the reason WM stopped carrying handguns.

It is more likely political correctness. Guns are becoming politically correct again.

Just thought up a new NRA slogan.

Help save the nation, take a liberal friend shooting.

You won't see that at the Wally World stores, here.

The Wally World 5 minutes from my house, doesn't even sell ammo, any longer.
(The one 20 minutes South, does.)

I've been to at least 25 different Walmarts in Texas including several around Austin. All of them carry firearms. I think you need to travel.

The few I have been in near me do not sell firearms but do have ammunition, usually.

Local WM sold 2 x AR15s so far today (Colt & Bushmaster) and a lot of ammo. Not the rush I thought might occur.

the mark up depends on how much they want but
if you base it on cost to MSRP the mark up is from 17% to 109%
Glocks are @ 36% cost to MSRP
