Looks like the ammo shortage is over. 45's and 38's are well supplied. Even have the bulk Remington 250 count in stock fro 45 and 38s. This is here in Ca. with AB962 (ironically Assembly Bill 962 aka AmmoBan962) oncoming.

I say get your last BIG purchases while you still can. I have a grand freeing up soon and will spend it all on ammo. I want a lifetime of Zombie fighting power in my possession. Got the wheel barrow ready....!!!!

yeah my local walmart has much more ammo on the shelves now too. I sometime wonder if the Ammo shortage was falsely created like the oil crisis of the 70's.
That is because they jacked up their price and are no longer the cheap place to get ammo. I can buy ammo at my local gunstore for the same or less than WM charges and they don't make me feel like I just committed a crime when I buy it.

I am going to paraphrase Tom Cruise in Rainman, "I am going to let you in on a secret, Walmart sucks!"

Really?

Walmart is very competitive in my area for target ammo - but has a poor selection of HP's.

Sure you are not exaggerating just a little? :dunno:

WM still has 9MM for $10.50 - 40 S&W $14.?? - 45 ACP $17

I know of a few small gun stores that BUY AMMO from WM to sell in their stores.

The 100rd packs of 9mm are $23.95 at my WM. That is $12 per 50rds. My local gunshop has Federal American Eagle ammo which is every bit as good if not better for $10.50 a box of 50. They have it in stock all the time so I don't have to walk past 500 retards to the back of the store to find that they are out of ammo.

Walmart is not as cheap as everyone thinks.

Good deal on the AE - IMHO it is a cut above WWB - is it some special sale or is this the normal price?

I don't see anyone selling AE this cheap - last time I was in Carter Country they wanted $15 a box and that was only if I bought 500 rounds.

Why don't you post the name and address of the place so some other guys in your area can go support the local gun store - and get a good deal at the same time.

From DannyR, over on the GSSF thread:

Federal 115 gr, 1125 FPS, 129.38 Power Factor
WWB 115 gr, 1190 FPS, 136.85 PF
AE 115 gr, 1180 FPS, 135.70 PF
AE 124 gr, 1150 FPS, 142.60 PF

My local WM now has AE in .38 special. Didn't pay attention to price, etc as I rarely shoot .38.

Walmart is by far and away cheaper then anybody local for FMJ. Academy sports was for awhile with their Monarch brand, but they raised prices and are now the same as WWB at Walmart. For hollow points and 357mag it's ammunitiontogo.com.

I like buying ammo at Wal-Mart. The prices are equal or better than was can be done in local area shops or even most on-line stuff. If I want some hot-rod stuff, I go elsewhere. But for basic blasting ammo, Wal-Mart is excellent. As far as the folks who go to Wal-Mart, they are no different than the ones I see in the local gunshops, auto stores, etc.
