No deals to be had
Maybe it's just starting in the more 'progressive' suburbs?
There was a line of us 6 deep in fairfax, va
I stopped at the Wally Mart after work today and cleaned them out of 38 spl. I asked the lady how much of it can I buy and she said "All of it if you want to". Done deal. Around 600 rnds I think plus some 380 acp as well.
Thank you for the heads up I saw this post yesterday and hit up my local Wally worlds in the Tampa Florida area three of the five stores I visited had the super clearance pricing.
I was buying ammunition like Hillary won
Prices I experienced.
Tula 7.62 x39 40 round boxes 5.00
Federal 9 mm brass 50 count $5.00
Winchester 40 s&w 180 grain 50 count 7.00 box
Federal brass 45 ACP 50 count $9 a box
Now for the best
Federal 556 green tip 62 grain 150 round box 25.00 a piece..... I bought three cases
Remington 223 55 grain 50-round box 7.00 box
Federal 223 55 grain 20 round box 4.00
Federal 380 brass 50 round box 5.00
And finally the federal syntech defense 9 mm 138 grain 20 round box $5 a piece
Same thing in 40 s&w for $6 a box
And 45 ACP for $7 a box
That's what the local Walmart's that are participating are blowing them out for price wise. Again out of five stores I visited two of them didn't mark anything down other than the regular clearance
Starting a month ago but the other three had the super clearance pricing.
$700 later the best I can figure doing math in my head is I got a minimum of $1,500 worth of ammunition at regular prices as he said despite how you feel about Walmarts politics this is the most absolute dirt cheap ammo prices I've seen in my entire life.
So might as well get it before it's gone
And to think a few short years ago .556 has an asking price of a dollar a bullet
That some people were paying during the panic.
Buy cheap and stack deep people
This is well worth your time to go find a couple Walmarts that may be participating.
Neither of my WM had any 7.62x39 left. Would've loved to have bought a bunch of that, too!
The stores near me must have just gotten to phase 1. Around 50% discount, so some good deals but not nearly what some have posted.
As usual the 9mm was all long gone except for a few boxes of the HST Micro at $11 for 20 rounds. Got to one store just as someone was buying all the .223/5.56 they had, already gone at the other stores.
Still had a decent amount of .380 FMJ for $7/50 or $15-$16/100(interesting math). .38 Spl and .40S&W were fully stocked.
Got the same story that whatever is left at the end of the month is being given to LE. The sporting goods guy at one store claimed they already sold a bunch of 9mm really cheap to a local PD.
I've been against buying WM ammo since their announcement but hey if they basically want to give it away or sell it at a loss... ok
Score! 12 boxes 38 special at $9 each, plus 2 each es 9mm and 45 at $7 per Box of 50 and 2 boxes of 9mm in 100 round boxes at $7 each. Boom!
I'm a little sad, because, barring some miracle, 11 Dec 2019 will forever be "the good old days", ammo-wise...
There also a little buyer's remorse in trying to catch a falling knife. Kicking myself for buying the 200 round packs of WWB 5.56 for $30, when it's $13 now.
I've been stopping in at my local WM the past couple of weeks or so and getting some great deals. The following days the shelves have always been restocked. This week though the shelves have not been restocked to full and the labels have been removed from some of the empty shelves. This evening the shelves are pretty much void of anything considered pistol ammo. Looks like the supply at this WM have dried up.
Screw you Walmart for deciding to not sell any more pistol ammo. Thank you Walmart for allowing me to feed my hobby for years to come at considerable savings.
If you had waited, you might not have gotten any at all. This happened to me in two different calibers that I thought would be "safe" to leave until later. Somebody snapped them all up.
My stores shelves were almost bare. Got some 380, and 38 special, including some Plus P.
I asked about 22 LR. Counter guy said he didn't know. He said he had seen an email that 22 LR would no longer be sold. But then he heard 22 LR would be sold. I picked up an extra 550 pack, just in case.
My counter guy was really bitter about the "woman" running WM now.
Both walmarts in my area are cleaned out & done. No more evil ammo.
Hah! It was just four and a half years ago that Walmart exited the MSR market, instead intending to capitalize on ammo hoarding. I wonder what'll take the shelf space now...
I wasn’t able to go to my local store today since I was hunting, but I stopped at one in San Marcos on the way home. CLEANED OUT is all I can say. I’m sure my Bulverde store is the same way if they had similar deals. I will check tomorrow.

No premium stuff left.
9mm and 45 were completely wiped out.
Mostly .380 and .40 left.
I bought about 20% of the .40 and 6 of the last 8 boxes of .38 spcl.
I left all the .380 for you guys.
So I would say that at this point the BIG AMMO PURGE is finished. One guy came into the local WM yesterday and bought it all, in one fell swoop. The .45, 9mm, 5.56, .300BO...spent $750 and loaded up a shopping cart and they walked him to the door because none of it was bagged.
So I moved on down the street to the local Dung hams, it seems that $.20+tax a round 9mm was the going cheap price. In my book, that is not cheap, for range fodder steel plate shooting. My next stop will be Rural King, to see what they have to offer.
Walmart was convenient, 4 miles up the road I could score enough ammo on a grocery run to cover the previous range trip. The price was about the same as what it would be buying on line bulk and the wallet would not take as big a hit all at once. Over the long haul it would be a wash, bulk vs WM small amount. I will just have to come up with a new replenishment strategy, IOW shoot until I need to buy a 1000 rounds of 9mm which for me is somewhere around 5-6 range trips, some of my guns run the conversion to .22lr, so I will run both.
My Pops went to a couple local to him, yesterday, but they were both cleaned out.
All 3 of mine that are reasonably close are cleaned out, as well, mostly because of one jerk who bought them all out (oh, wait, that was me).
Yep, I think the great purge is mostly over.
It's a waiting game, refreshing the app to see when the "in-stock-but-not-yet-fully-discounted" stores make that final markdown, and then the mad rush to beat everyone else to that store at quitting time
