Suspect swallowed crack cocaine, resisted arrest Colter Van De Walker BONITA SPRINGS: A man was arrested after deputies say he ran from them during an investigation into illegal drug activity. Just after 1 p.m. Monday, deputies were called to the area of Pennsylvania Avenue and Arroyal Road. When they arrived, deputies saw Colter Van De Walker on a bike talking to someone in a car and they were in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue. In his report, the deputy on scene explained he recognized 29-year-old Van De Walker because he has a number of drug related offenses with the Lee County Sheriff's Office. That deputy stated he saw Van De Walker leaning his body into the window of the car and that it seemed like a drug buy was taking place. According to reports, when Van De Walker saw the marked patrol car, he started riding his bike away and the driver of the car he was talking to drove off as well. The deputy ordered Van De Walker to stop, but he kept going and was also seen reaching into his pockets and placing a bunch of small white pieces into his mouth, as stated in the sheriff's report. While the deputy was chasing Van De Walker, he was seen getting off of his bike and jumping a fence to the backyard of a nearby house. According to the report, the deputy kept telling Van De Walker to stop, but was ignored. Neighbors told deputies that Van De Walker and jumped into a canal, swam across and kept running away from the area. After a number of other deputies arrived in the area to help, Van De Walker was caught a little more than an hour after the search began. Deputies stated in the sheriff's report that when Van De Walker was caught, he started to resist arrest and was waving his arms and kicking his feet everywhere. One of the deputies had to use his Taser four times before Van De Walker could be detained and put into a Lee County Sheriff's Office van. When a Lee County EMS crew arrived, they treated a cut Van De Walker had on his head and noticed that his heart was beating much faster than it should have been. He told the emergency crews that he had swallowed pieces of crack cocaine. Shortly after that, he was taken to Gulf Coast Hospital for treatment. Van De Walker was arrested on charges of loitering, resisting arrest and destruction of evidence. link ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Looks like he needed someone to bring amber lamps!
