And the community is the victim as there may not be a drug store within many miles anymore
Most of these chain stores have a loss prevention division and will network with other local retailers and the police to identify shoplifters from video and then secure warrants after the fact. Its a very common practice
Walgreens is out of fish oil gummies every time I stop by. I wonder if people steal them?
Small town here. But at least once a week I see articles in the local online daily rag about a shoplifter being arrested at our Wall Mart.
CA sounds like a nice place to visit and a better place to rob.
If they think you will vote Dem, you won't be arrested.
I'll make sure to dress in all-black with a matching balaclava and a taped-on sign that says "PRESS".
Maybe to prevent causing a scene at their store.
And now it's considered RACIST!!!
Don’t understand what the issue is, Walgreens and CVS can buy it all back for 50 cents on the dollar, and pass on the increase to the consumer. Discrimination against poor criminals is racist, everyone needs to step up, to prep up.
Yeah, they got insurance! Who cares, right???
My walmart does not care about theft, they just write it off as a loss and not prosecuting is less of a loss than taking the time to prosecute someone who may sue them back for thousands. The self check out girls just look the other way and they do not care to find them selves in a confrontation with a rabid customer. Their pay is just the same either way so why risk it.
Recently was asked to see the receipt when leaving local Walmart. First time in a good while.
I'mma steal sooo much stuff from Wal-Mart now.
It's OK, I read it here that it was perfectly OK!
Not too long ago, I got to the car only to realize that I forgot to have the large bag of horse feed under the cart scanned. I went back to pay for it and it seemed like a bother to everyone wearing a blue vest. HH
When asked if they can see your receipt just say no thank you and continue walking. Also notice who they don't ask.
Early this summer my china mart had a door monitor checking for receipts. If your items were in a bag they let you pass but if your purchase was not in a plastic bag they would harass you for proof of purchase. For a while I was dating a walmart employee and she told me that they can not do anything more than ask and you do not half to show anything. She told me that they forbid a employee to challenge a shopper if they suspect theft. I always pay with my china mart app in my phone and never use a card and the machine in self check out does not give me a receipt when I use the app. I go thru the the door monitor asked me for a paper receipt and I tell them I do not have one. They ask why I do not have one and I explain how their self check out works and the receipt is stored in my phone on their app. They ask for me to hand my phone over to them,,,Ha Ha I inform them that my phone is private property and they do not have a right to it. They get frustrated and copp a attitude and stomp off. Some tried to argue with me but I just walk on out knowing they are dis allowed to follow me or mess with me in any manner.
Now days the store has given up on the door program and no one is there pestering me... it is funny how so many people follow the circus and obey to the door guard's.
China mart is starting a program where you use your phone to check the bar code as you put it in your basket and you ck out when you leave. The employee friend told me they will get so much stuff taken and out the door.
Ah yes, the media calls them food deserts.
It doesn’t make any sense but to have booze, tobacco and lottery ticket dispensaries behind bullet proof glass. It’s their culture.
I think all the big stores should just shutdown in those areas where theft exceeds a certain limit.
But they won't because they don't want to be called racist. I would love to see a CEO with the guts to say: we are closing these stores because the local culture prohibits us fom being profitable on those places.
The socialist will claim that those companies have a social obligation to give there products away for free to the poor...
America has some of the richest poor people in the world.

Not insurance for shoplifting or shrinkage (employees stealing). On personal injuries, they will have an SIR (self insured payout before insurance payments kick in). Some companies (and their insurers) have a policy of taking everything to trial rather than settling upfront when liability is clear.
City of Los Angeles (dump truck hit my secretary's old car while the dump truck came off the freeway). City showed up at trial and paid the small claim. It is the policy not to pay any claims until day of trial.
