How reliable is the Windows Vista firewall? Also, will Norton Antivirus or Norton Internet Security (for XP) work in Vista? Thank you.

AVG has a partnership with Microsoft and seems to have the inside info on Vista.Symantec sued Microsoft because they thought they weren't getting all the needed info on Vista.I don't know if they did or not but it sounds like AVG is the way to go for security in Vista.

I don't have Vista but from the looks of things I don't think Norton for Windows XP will work in Vista.

NONE of Norton/Symantec utilities work properly with any new MS OS/major revision. Norton/Symantec's corporate policy seems to always make you buy a new version! I used to Beta test some of their products, but their policies drove me to quit working with them.

I won't let any of their products near my machines or any of my clients machines, if I have any choice in the matter (one client has to use it due to Husband's employer corporate policy).

I'm currently using Vista's firewall, but it's still to early to
give you a yea or nay.

I've always used Panda in the past with very good luck, but Panda's
version is still in the beta testing stage for Vista.

So I guess that you could say that i'm searching for a viable
    option myself.

Well, to the Vista haters - it came with my notebook and no, I will not uninstall it. It's running "just fine" with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 gig, 2.0 gig of RAM, 256 meg video, etc, etc. Symantec AV Client Version is now available for Vista and it's free to employees of some agencies. I will use the Vista firewall until I find a more suitable one. Thank you for all the replies, related to the topic or not.
