yes it can 
installing new hardware in a laptop is a wee bit trickier than in a desktop model but it can be done. i would recommend dropping it off at the store though and have their techs install it. alot of stores will offer free install if you purchase the hardware there...BestBuy comes to mind. your other specs sound schweet, though! just get that gfxcard and game on.
