Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm honestly not sure if I'm allowed to post videos on here, but anyways here's just a fun video my friend shot of me shooting my 10mm today. The muzzle flashes you see are from good ole blue dot. Also some footage of my mosin nagant 7.62 X 54 with a hornady 123 grain .310 soft point (AK-47 bullet) motivated by 56 grains of Ball C-2, moves about 3100 FPS and also makes dazzling muzzle flashes and violently explodes water filled containers....

Hey nice video, seriously you could work on your shooting technique so...your holding the gun a little high. I suppose you were checking some things out or didn't want the slide to fly off the rear of the gun with that stance. You were looking around the gun not thru the sights...That is developing some bad habits that can plauge you later on!

Push your arms outward with a firm grip to a natural point of aim and you will control the recoil much better!

Thanks, yeah I have tried shooting handguns with arms extended and elbows locked and yes it does create a much firmer grip with recoil control, but in my experience I do not shoot no where near as accurate because I find it to be way more shaky compared to the way I was shooting. I have a concealed carry permit and was trained to shoot that way with arms extended when I took the concealed carry training, and i find it works great for the concealed carry application (we repeatedly shot a man sized siloutte only 10 feet away and only needed to put the shots into center mass). But when shooting bowling pins 50 feet away no way, my arms shake too much when fully extended. By the way the full house 10mm is the max that I find you can shoot the way I was, don't try it with a .44 magnum, trust me!

How do you use the sights shooting like that? I thought you were just trying to check something. It seems like the sights aren't even in line with your eye. I used to get shaky when I first started shooting, but after a few hundred rounds, I calmed down. Now, thousands of rounds later, I'm rock solid. Shooting arms extended helps soak up the recoil, and allows you to follow up faster. That's especially important in a self defense situation, where multiple shots are almost a certainty. If it works for you, then that's great. I assume you know your body better than we do. Just trying to help.

Aaah I see what you all are saying about how I wasn't looking down the sites- well I do recall I did look to the side a little out of my own curiosity when my friend was shooting that because I was curious to see this famous blue dot flash everyone always talks about. It's pretty impressive I'll say!

You should see the flash out of a G29 with 155gr bullets and a max load of Blue Dot. Here's a video I made of that combination:

Wow thats awesome! Does that seem to produce flakes of unburnt powder form the short barrel? I never noticed any unburnt powder with my favorite load of 11 grains with a 180 grainer. I'm discovering that power pistol also produces a really artillery like flash, and in the rifles double based ball powders like BL-C (2) and H335 are the flashiest, and the single based stick powders like all the IMR's produce virtually zero flash

Yeah, anytime I shoot Blue Dot out of the G29, I end up with powder all over my arms. Especially with light bullets like that. I have also noticed that Power Pistol has a big flash. I don't think it's QUITE as bad as Blue Dot, but still pretty big.

Does power pistol produce unburnt powder flakes in the short barreled 29? I would think it would be more efficient in the shorter barrel. I'm just starting to play around with my first pound of power pistol and finding that I'm able to get velocities about the same as blue dot with 180 and lower grain bullets- and with less powder. The 200 grainers still do better with blue dot thou

I haven't noticed that with Power Pistol, but I haven't really shot that much of it with light bullets yet. It's SEEMS like it would be more efficient in the shorter barrels, but I've found that it hits a velocity ceiling at about 1300fps in my G29. I have pushed it HARD with both the 125gr Barnes TAC-XP and 135gr Nosler JHP, and can't get past 1325fps or so. 800-X has killed everything else in my G29. It beats everything else by 200fps or more with the light bullets, and up to 50fps with the heavy bullets. It's definitely THE powder for a G29.

What weight of bullet does power pistol hit a 1300 fps ceiling with in the short G29 barrel? If it's 180 I'd say that's darned good and call it a day. I'm discovering I hit 1300 FPS with 8.5 grains of PP with my 6 inch barrel and any 180 grain bullet. FWIW I have an old 15 something year alliant manual that has 8.7 grains of PP listed with a generic 180 grain JHP @ 1240 fps and 34,900 PSI tested in a 5 inch barrel. Not sure why they don't list that any more

Oh I'll add that it takes 10.5 grains blue dot to hit 1300 fps with 180 grainers-, so I'm switching to PP, two grains less for the same velocity

I havefound that the Power Pistol does perform better in the shorter barrel. The flash is brighter than Blue Dot...

It was with the light bullets, 125gr Barnes TAC-XP and 135gr Nosler JHPs. I kept increasing the charge, but couldn't get the Barnes bullets past like 1310fps, and the Noslers past like 1325fps. I agree the Power Pistol is more economical than BD with any bullets. It also meters really well.

I had the same issue with PP and the sinterfire 125 gr. though it wouldnt go past the high 1400's cuz I was using a 6 inch barrel. FWIW my friend noted that those loads with the sinterfire 125 and PP were producing huge fireballs, and this was outside on a sunny day, he said way more noticeable then any of my blue dot loads. I suspect these loads we made that produce really cool artillery like muzzle flashes are wasting a lot of energy the powder would otherwise use to push the bullet- it does look cool thou.
