Would some one tell me why I should not buy Vanson. I can get is for a pretty OK price through a friend. I am talking Jacket and pants not a track suit.

The leather seems like it was taken off super tough mutant cows.

I had a Vanson jacket for years until I outgrew it. Top notch quality - heavy leather, very strong stitching that did not have a single loop go loose in 10 years, etc. If you can afford Vanson, buy it without hesitation.

Vanson is sold at more selected shops/dealerships, so it's harder to find than a typical riding gears brand, but it's top notch stuff.

My wife and I both have had a Vanson jacket for about 5 years and we love ours, they are our main ridings jackets and IMO about the best you can buy.

I have a nice leather riding jacket now but I desire a new/better one. Full retail on the one I want with armor (sold separately) in around $800. In a year who's going to remember the price?

I am probably going to pick one up @ GP Motorcycles in San Diego when I am down there later this month.

Vanson is about 40 minutes from my home.

I've now had my jacket for about 17 years and over 200,000 miles. It looks almost as good now as it did when I bought it. I've (unfortunatly) had it resized twice (I keep getting bigger).

It's been down, at low speed with just a few scuffs.

I have buddies that have paid $250 every 3-4 years for jackets, I think I paid $500 back then and my wife thought I was nuts.

Look at a good breathable if you live in a hot climate. Motoport makes a top quality Kevlar mesh that is a least as safe as leather & much cooler. The only drawback is waiting for it to be made. Competitive price wise with other quality stuff. Pay the money for good gear. Much cheaper than skin replacement.

I ended up getting a Vanson. I was going to get a perforated jacket but I decided against it. I think it was a good choice. I got the hard armor for it which is nice except for the shoulders. I will get the CE rated soft armor for the shoulders.

It is very much a purpose built jacket great on the bike, uncomfortable when not in a riding position.

Maybe the tooth fairy will bring me the pants.

I just wish I could afford a Vanson. I say if you're getting it
for a good price and it fits, get it.

    Which Vanson did you get?

I have three ... a custom Comet and two Forces (one perforated, one not). All three have armor (hard and soft). There aren't many quality cycle jacket makers that offer cruiser-style jackets with real safety features like armor. All purchased from a local Vanson dealer (TrickTape.com).

I'm about to get a Mercury to replace an aging street (i.e. non-riding) jacket. So that will make it four Vanson jackets, leaving aside the gloves, belts and all that jazz.

IMO they're a great premium quality US-made leather jacket!

After a long day of shining boots, shoes and leather conditioner ...

(the one in the middle is not a Vanson; it's the aging street jacket that's about to be replaced by a Vanson Mercury). Cycle boots are Frey Daytona Urbans.
