A fella on another forum claimed that all Dan Wesson Valors prior to the 2010 model have a cast ejector, extractor, thumb saftey and fire controls. Be there any truth in this ugly allegation?

Not being a metallurgist and knowing little about Dan Wessons, I do know that CZ has claimed that with the exception of the ED Brown thumb safety, these bits have been "tool steel". While it is possible to cast tool steel, its malleability makes it less than ideal for making the kind of metal cutting components that require tool steel. That's why in my experience, tools made to cut metal - dies and so forth - are made of forged tool steel.

    What has Dan Wesson used?

    Thanks, Quack.

I read that thread and the two others it referenced. Nowhere does it say that parts prior to 2010 were cast.

Keith said that they were going to:

"In house tool steel fire controls. The hammer, sear and disconnect are tool steel with an RC rating between 50 and 54. The hammer strut is EDM wire cut flat stock stainless."

Since 2006 CZ has been claiming that these parts were tool steel, so other than the Rockwell numbers I don't know what this means.
