Seems like the motivation is money $$ 180 bux each. Wish the public could get that price.
    Personally I like em both.

    Their answers seems obvious.

Simplification of inventory and spare parts across the board. Why keep just one of the four current systems, instead of being able to standardize on one platform to meet all needs?

Of course, it'll probably take a while for the replacement of all of them to be completed, so it's not like they're all going away even once the program begins next year. They'll likely have plenty of time to get some usage out of the remaining stocks.

How could the company justify and bear the expense of the military contract pricing without the regular commercial guns bought by the public paying the freight? ;)

Offer to buy 50,000 of them from the manufacturer I’m sure you’ll get that price too!

It’s about time to replace the M9. I bet you still see Recon, SEALS and the like carrying Glock 19’s. The era of the 1911 is finally ending. It had a great run. $180.00 a pop explains a lot.

Economies of scale. Most firearms manufacturers in this game come from places without the freedoms we have. They are tooled to make it on Gov’t. business alone. Civie sales are high margin langiappe. (a little something extra)

Sig will have the time to work the bugs out. Hopefully this helps to get them back to name for quality back they had back when I carried a West German P220 .45 ACP ——- par excellence.

It would be nice to see for sure, but it isn't likely to happen with Cohen at the helm......

I'm not a big G19 fan. I mean, I do own a G23, but the only reason is because I got such a great deal on it, I just couldn't pass it up. I'm more of the G22 fan. I like the feel of the FS gun. I'm about to sell my G23 to fund a LE trade in G22 from Recoil Gunworks.

It's just too bad they went with such a crappy choice for the MHS. Oh well.

    If you're a tax payer....you did purchase a P320 for $180. A lot of them.

You also get a lot of whiny and crying and excuse-making when someone's favorite gun is rejected.

I was in Marine infantry and saw maybe 5 dudes with handguns in my entire company. Not a big deal.
