I found a used Wingmaster today in a local shop for $300. It's in beautiful shape and I want to like it but before I go any further, is that a decent price? It's a consignment deal so there may be some negotiating room.

    Thanks.

Is it an older Wingmaster or a newer one? Does it take magnum shells?

I bought an older one for about $201 OTD a few years back, in VERY GOOD condition... had a 28" barrel, didnt take magnum shells. That was a good deal I think. I also have a newer Wingmaster I was given by my dad, 18.5" barrel, takes magnum shells, nicer wood, etc... I think it is worth much more than the 28" barrel 870 I am mentioning.

$300 is probably fair no matter which kind it is I would guess...

I didn't get the age and I don't know about the Magnum shell capability. I will check it again tomorrow.

Here they are together. I got an 18.5" barrel for the 28" and keep that barrel for bird hunting... It is the one on the bottom. It was made in '69. The one on top was my dad's when he worked for the FBI. I am guessing it was made in the mid 80's.

I know if you get the serial number you can also call Remington to find out exactly when it was made.

In 1988, my darlin' wife bought me an 870 Wingmaster (Magnum) for Christmas. (26" Remchoke barrel.)
    It was $329 OTD, NIB.

A few years ago, I found a like new 870 Wingmaster w/ 20" cyl barrel at a gunshow, and got it for $210.00 OTD.
I called Remington and found out that this 870 was built in 1982 and was a 'Police' gun.

If you can get a Wingmaster for $300.00 - BUY IT!!!!!
