    Hey guys,
I found an ar upper with really high round count (25k or so through it) and i wanted to put in a new barrel. The bcg and bolt look good- would it okay to just use the same bolt with the new barrel, or should everything be changed out?

Also is checking headspace absolutely necessary or just a good idea?

    thanks!

I prefer to keep bolts with barrels.
Last barrel I replaced, I bought a new bolt.

Checking headspace isn’t necessary, IF, you are using quality, trusted components.

    ^^This^^

I do it all the time - including old bolts in barrels with some miles - but......c-above.

Also, BCG = Bolt Carrier Group. Which includes the bolt, among other things.
