I saw one of these the other day, I ogled it some in the parking lot.

My first reaction was that it looks like it is still 1950's technology. I'm sure it would be fun & unique but you'd have to be a "wrench" to keep it going.

1950s technology? Try 1940s technology. It's the same BMW that they stole from the Nazis back in the days.

I think that if they were to cut the price by 1/2 then I may be amenable for one of those numbers.

India's Royal Enfield at least has the right idea. Their Bullets are dirt cheap because they haven't changed since the 1950s.

Ha, yep. Until, lets put back on a Brit exhaust. Ka-ching! Let's take off that reliable Mi-Carb and put on an Amal. Ka-Ching! Let's take that seat off and mount a nice leather sprung saddle. Ka-Ching! Sure could use some Kibblewhite valves. Ka-Ching! Let's put the correct Lucas headlight back on. Ka-Ching! Some hi-cap oil pumps would be nice. Ka-Ching! Old school is nice, but a front disc would be good. Ka-Ching!

You get the idea. It's really easy to take a $4500 Enfield and make it a $6500 Enfield.

BTW, I like the Urals, but a friend of mine had one (and a Royal Enfield), the electrics sucked. It was also a pain getting parts sometimes. I still might get one.

I rode a Ural with a hack attached a few years at a BMW rally. I've had a couple of older BMW's with sidecars, so I have some idea of what one should "feel" like. The Ural was very different, the sidecare had a drive unit. Even with the drive disengaged, the hack felt really heavy and required a bit of counter steer to keep in going in the right direction. I assume it was set up correctly, the guy had ridden it from Seattle to Spokane and reported it worked good. These things are rumored to be pretty reliable, with the newer ones getting quite good reports. Early imports had various electrical problems.
