    I currently own a G17.

I was wondering if I could place a G31 (.357 sig) upper on it?
I know that if I can do it I might need to replace ejector and the will have to change the magazines, but, can I even put that slide on my frame?

The list they have at Glockmeister says that a G17 will fit on a G31 but not that other way around. Not that I have any reason to doubt Glockmeister but I want to double check because I would like to try the .357 SIG.

And if it can't be done, why can you swap one way but not the other?

If you have a 2-pin G17, the frame is not strong enough for the .357Sig. If you have a 3-pin frame, then all you need to do is swap the ejector and magazines. The locking block pin is necessary for the .40 and .357Sig.

Curious Danny, is that a complete upper swap or just a barrel & spring swap ?

    WIG,

That's a complete upper swap, including all internals.
