Bought a Gen 3 G34 and plan on IDPA use mostly.
What upgrades would be recommended without going nuts $$. Maybe $500 max.
I'm thinking sights, trigger work, grip tape, etc.
SSP class IDPA gun probably but what else could I add for ESP class

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

That gun ought to be pretty ready the way it is. I would head to the range and practice keeping the muzzle glued to the berm, watch the 180, finger-up-high-away-from-trigger, shooting around cover, rapid doubles, etc.
I'd shoot it the way it is first. Those pistols are sweet.

Decent sights and good fundamental technique to start. I am content with the stock trigger, but I have a long history using revolvers with much longer heavier trigger pulls very effectively. Most fans of 1911's tend to hate the glock trigger and spend lots of cash to try to get the trigger more like the 1911 they are used to. In those situations I tell them stop chasing your tail and either use a 1911 or accept the glock trigger for what it is. I use my stock glocks in idpa uspsa and gssf so keep the triggers stock

i used to be a steel sights (tritium or FO) and Vickers mag release ONLY kinda dude. However, I've taken a liking to the Agency magwell on my G17s. It helps with reloads and pushes my XXL hands upward. It's rather small and doesn't make my G17s look like black saxophones LOL
