That sucks for him. This is different then the milk in the face guy at the other walmart right?
What's the article say?
Video appears to show greeter pushing customer.
Probably the grounds for HR action.
Walmart screwed him for doing his job and getting assaulted for doing it.
He needs his job back if he want's it and an apology from his manager for being an idiot and firing him
He had the nerve to ask to see a receipt!?!?
I refuse to believe that ANY nationwide chain would do any differently.
You are NEVER allowed to leave the store to go after anyone, even if they have a cash register in hand!
This guy deserves to be fired 100% and then some. Plus, he had no real cause to stop the guy unless their staff witnessed the man taking something and watched them the entire time!
i dont understand some of the logic on this board. if someone walks into your house and steals from you, shoot them dead. if someone walks into your store and steals from you, do absolutely nothing.. just let them go and call the police.
the greeter did his job and the guy tried to steal his clipboard dont grab someone elses clipboard out of their hands and you wont get shoved when they try to take it back
I'm on the greeter's side on this one. His clipboard was snatched from him and he has the right to get it back. The video looks worse than what it really was I think. He grabs his clipboard and the customer grabs back thus a tussel ensues.
He should reapply to WM for a job in Loss Prevention.
Watch the video, that guy was a little ***** punk. Summary for those who don't follow links:
Guy is a greeter. Dirtbag in shorts, cut off shirt, set off the anti-theft sensor and doesn't stop.
Greeter follows him to the car to get make/model/license per policy.
Dirtbag drives to the front door and asks what greeter was doing. Greeter told him.
Dirtbag parks car at front door, got out of car, walked back inside and took the greeter's clipboard with his vehicle description.
Greeter tries to take it back and tussle begins.
Dirtbag punched the greeter behind his ear.
Others (possibly the security manager) arrive and immediately recognize the wrong in the situation as that of the dirtbag. They jump on dirtbag.
By policy the greeter might not have attempted to take back his clipboard.
By what's good for society the dirtbag should have had his ass thoroughly kicked, the police called, his car inventoried and the dirtbag arrested for assault, then sued and banned from Wal*Mart. Hell, it would probably shrink their shrink if they did.
Haha I bet that little punk didn't expect that older man to defend himself, did he? I hope the Wal-Mart guy got a few punches in off-camera.
Don't mess with a guy's stapler, I mean clipboard.
But seriously, in my opinion, if someone aggressively approaches you and then snatches something from your hand, you should be able to defend yourself.
That's standard operating procedure at Anycorp USA, Inc. Managers tell people to do something--when they do it and it doesn't work out, they don't stand behind thier employees but rather in true corporate America fashion, they pass the buck and hang their people out to dry. Why? Because most middle managers at companies are just interested in holding a job--not doing what's right. And to admit that their instruction was wrong, they might "look bad" to their boss and not get that promotion. That's a big reason why most companies are in the tank and I don't feel sorry for them at all. Half ass middle managers, passing the buck because they are afraid. And the low guy is the victim.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
I agree with you. I didn't see, after watching the video, any reason why that man should have been fired. He didn't initiate the violence, or even provoke the man.. HE was attacked and simply defended himself.
but look on the bright side, thats one less wal mart employee stealing tbhracing's tax dollars
He body slammed the punk into the sensor equipment in an attempt to get the clipboard back.
I am going to guess using force of any kind is against WM policy.
He was told he doesent have a case ? I think he needs to find a new lawyer.
He has NO recourse in an "At Will" State.
If he was on WalMart property he had every right to follow the perp. He was fired because the individual was non white. That is the fact. He could sue in Federal or State court but he needs someone well versed and big enough to get a settlement. I personally would sue the perp and Wally World. It is unfortunate in our society that doing the right thing gets your fired and if you screw up you are promoted.
I don't get it. Did the Wal-Mart greeter play a "stupid game?"
