What are some of your movie opinions that would get you anything from a sneer to a professional-grade ***-kicking, depending on the company?

I'll get the ball rolling. While I really like the original Total Recall and think it is a cult classic, I think that the Total Recall remake was a better movie. There. I've said it.

While I am at it, I thought the remakes of The Getaway and The Mechanic were far better than the originals too.

Oh, and I'll never really understand John Wayne's enduring legend. He wasn't much of an actor and there were actors of the era that played the tough guy far better. AND his name was Marion, for God's sake!:cowboy:

I hate CGI crap, and comic book remakes, and overly loud sound effects mixed with mumbling whispered dialogue.

At the risk of pissing off many fellow Texans, I have to agree with you about John Wayne. I have never thought of him as much of an actor.
That said though, and regardless of his acting abilities, John Wayne is Rooster Cogburn!

The Force Awakens wasn't good, only passable.

J J Abrams sucks. He can't make a decent movie on his own. All he does is recycle old scripts and make them worse.

The Original 5:10 to Yuma was a brilliant classic. The remake was bad and never should have been made.

Jason Momoa was so much better as Conan, I don't even know where to start.

disagree with much of your opinion sir.
respect we have differences, especially with "The Getaway."
Steve McQueen was the king of cool. the remake can not hold a candle to the original.
and there are John Wayne movies i will still watch any time they are on, including "The Quiet man."
my thought is Quentin Tarantino might have made two movies i can stand.
    the rest are garbage.
    stupid, boring, childish.

I never thought James Dean was much of an actor. And I've never been able to watch more than 10 mins of "Gone With The Wind".

The reason you dont understand is that you can not even spell his screen name correctly! It is Wayne, not Wane. :dancing:

I think Disney is making a mistake with Avatar Land. Movie was awfully preachy, I don't think that will translate to the capitalism of roller coasters and gift shops.

For some reason I like the first "Hitman" movie. Bridge on the River Kwai was the best movie ever made. Avatar the most overrated movie ever made. The Disney "Pirates" movies are the worst movies ever made.

I like the new Star Wars prequels (I-III) better than the originals.

    Why?

Because the originals didn't really give any real context to the story. The battle between Darth Vader and Obi Wan Kenobi at the end of A New Hope had no more significance than two guys beefing over a parking space. The whole Empire/Rebellion dispute seemed no more important than the Hatfields and McCoys.

But the prequels gave the impression of a living, breathing galaxy with trillions of inhabitants, and the events that were transpiring were going to have a HUGE impact on the future of the galaxy. Of course, that's only if viewed in the context of the original three.
