my free norton security ran out to day and I am try to download avg. anyway something called antivir has installed and I can't find it in my programs to uninstall. It's very annoying with virus messages infected files pop up etc. then it goes to down load their soft ware for whatever the price is. I wonder if sometimes these ALERTS are to scare you into buying their software. Anyway how do I find this program and uninstall it. It's free for two weeks but I'll be crazy-craizer by then

If you can download the Malwarebytes installer, right click on it after saving it and rename it to any other short name you want. Then double click it and see if it will install and run.

I agree w/your diagnosis about the virus, just wanted to add that Revo rocks!

Any time someone in the family gets a new machine, i get it for about an hour or two to apply updates and install firefox. I also download revo on it and uninstall all that factory junk with it.

Have you tried Microsoft security essentials?
I know its Microsoft but it does work great and its free.

Also down load Malwarebyts in safe mode with networking.

thanks everyone for the help. Malware worked but i had to go to Bleeping.Computer.com to get instructions. I love to find a way to cause Antivir as much aggravation as they caused me. Tell all your friends to not click on anything with antivir on it. Thanks again to the braintrust at GT.
