I found this on FaceBook...
I served so that you can burn the flag or protest in whatever manner you deem fit.
Strongly disagree and I'm retired military. If spray painting a Jewish synagogue with a swastica (which I consider despicable) is a hate crime, then so should burning the flag. No real difference, the swastica can be soda blasted off. Don
No veteran that I know would call Our Flag an "inanimate object" just as they would not call the Constitution a "Piece of Paper".
The flag is far more important than made up injustices, lies, mischaracterizations and Alinsky tactics.
Anyone with that much of a "beef" with this country needs to GTFO.
I had a part in insuring that the distasteful can be distasteful.
When does the "Symbol" become more important? When the people forsake the symbol, the history, the purpose, the representation, and the importance of all it stands for.
I don't agree with the article in the OP.
Won't apologize for it either, so don't bother asking.
Be Distasteful Safely
Nope. That's the coward's way.
Much harder, much more expensive and far more dangerous to stay, lead the protest and change this country for the better.
That is patriotism.
Even disregarding the symbolism. .
When you are at work you need to follow the code of conduct that your company, or you work contract describes.
Even if the NFL CoC or contracts DON'T say "Stand for the Flag" you can bet that they say something like "Behavior that is detrimental to the NFL or to your Team or fellow players or the fans is forbidden".
Yet these dip think they are above following the rules because they are "special". . . F them. . .
There are 32 teams, it's up to each of them. The commissioner just wrote a letter caving in and asking each owner to do what he can to get the teams on their feet for the anthem.
Note that it's a letter, not a lawsuit or a fine, and he's asking.
Those two point are important.
The players are balancing a future in the NFL against what they believe.
There is no need for change. Their protests are based on lies. They are worthless people. Their opinions don't matter. They will be held to account for their choices.
And for what it's worth, the protest is working. Note that it has everyone who bothered to post here worked up enough to post about it.
Kaepernick one, y'all, zero.
Actually, the protest doesn't matter to you.
If what you say were really true, you would have rolled your eyes and moved on.
If I had my way, The agitators would be strung up from telephone poles right along with the actors.
If I had my way, there would be nothing to protest.
100% spot on!
I've said it many times, here and in real life. You can burn the flag or pee on it. That doesn't shake how I feel about my country nor do I think this country is so weak that those actions can hurt it. I don't care about the flag. I care about what and who it represents. Burn the constitution while you're at it. We're (many of us) aren't that weak or fragile that we can't stand there and say "Tis cool. We have copies." And if you burned every single copy....screw it. Write up a new one.
Unlike Don, I see a difference between someone burning a flag they purchased vs spray painting a swastika on some synagogues wall.
ETS: August, 1977.
Our flag is an inanimate object, our constitution is a piece of paper.
The principles are what matters, nothing else.
They don't even know what they believe. Some say it's a protest against Police brutality towards blacks, some say it a sign of unity, unity for what, some say DUH, I duno I was told to get down on one knee.
But now you've heard from two vets who have called the flag an inanimate object and the constitution a piece of paper.
Why not just stop displaying the flag and playing the anthem at pro games? Why is it done anyway? For the fans? Obviously a bunch of mostly dumb *** jocks who are paid to entertain do not really do it for America. They do it for the money. If the fans who pay ridiculous prices to see these freaks of nature want them to be patriotic and respectful of the flag then they can stop buying tickets when they don't. I stopped watching and I won't buy any more NFL stuff. So they can play their stupid game and pretend to be righteous when I know most of them are ignorant slugs who do not deserve my respect. Expecting them to be grateful for what this country has given them is an affront to their intelligence.
