I had to go to a meeting last night and when I came home my wife had everything laied out to make hamburgers:

1/3 lb patty - liberally covered with a dry rub for steaks and garlic powder - grilled.

Swiss Cheese melted on the hamburgers

    Bacon!

    Grilled red onions

    Lettuce

    Tomatoes

Toasted "Everything" bagel in lieu of a bun

condimints of our choosing (mustard & mayo for me)

OH BOY was that good! Forget buns - I am going with bagels from now on. We have a grocery which makes bagels - we have taken with using them for most everything - we make bagel garlic bread to eat with pasta, bagels for BLT sandwiches, and now bagels in lieu of buns for hamburgers.

Try some "Woody's Cooking Sauce" in your burgers. It can be found in the steak sauce/marinade section of the supermarket. I just pour some in the ground beef I'm using and mix it up well by hand. Then I form the patties and grill them.

Don't ask me the amount as I never measure it. Usually about 1/2 jar for about 5 pounds of meat or so. The patties will be a soft and can fall apart on the grill because of the added liquid, so I usually make them ahead of time and put them back in the fridge for a while. Getting cold again will help them hold together.

Sounds good. I know this sounds dumb, but I really like the burgers at Hooters.

When the burgers are close to done,I coat both sides with pizza sauce and melt mozzarella on top, served on onion roll, nothing else.I also season the meat with plenty of garlic powder.

    The "burgers" eh?

And yes fresh garlic rocks. Much better flavor than garlic powder or garlic salt.

When I was a kid, my mom used to mix Lipton's powdered Onion Soup mix into the hamburger before making the patties.

    It was great!

    and they're GOOD sandwiches.

but .. she feeds me what SHE eats. which means, i don't get curb service on what I like and she doesn't. oops. well, turnabout's fair play, when i go nuts on the grill, she doesn't have to cook OR clean up. :)

I like curb service on sandwiches, even when they're not hamburgers. And besides, i didn't marry her for her cooking ability anyway. ;P

same here, that's an old time classic for making tasty hamburgers. Also adding in some ground sheep also and fine chopped onions ;)

My 2nd best burgers have been made with a litle A1 and Lawry's seasoning salt then make the patties and throw on the grill.

My best of the best burgers are seasoned with Lawry's seasoning salt and chucky salsa. Mix all together and grill. They turn out GREAT.
