    • A new U.N. report suggests a $240 per gallon gas tax equivalent is needed to fight global warming.
    • The U.N. says a carbon tax would need to be as high as $27,000 per ton in the year 2100.
    • If you think that’s unlikely to ever happen, you’re probably right.
A United Nations special climate report suggests a tax on carbon dioxide emissions would need to be as high as $27,000 per ton at the end of the century to effectively limit global warming.

For Americans, that’s the same as a $240 per gallon tax on gasoline in the year 2100, should such a recommendation be adopted. In 2030, the report says a carbon tax would need to be as high as $5,500 — that’s equivalent to a $49 per gallon gas tax.

If you think that’s an unlikely scenario, you’re probably not wrong. However, it’s what the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s report, released Sunday night, sees as a policy option for reducing emissions enough to keep projected warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius.

The IPCC’s report is meant to galvanize political support for doubling down on the Paris climate accord ahead of a U.N. climate summit scheduled for December. The report calls for societal changes that are “unprecedented in terms of scale” in order to limit future global warming to below 1.5 degrees Celsius, the stretch goal of the Paris accord.

and to think we are helping fund these knuckleheads

The last time the UN showed any value was 65 years ago.

That's enough time to validate that they've outlived their usefulness, if they ever truly had it.

The UN is about to make a worldwide power grab by imposing themselves on the internal workings of individual countries.

Globalists are also about to make a worldwide power grab using the same tactics.

Global warming, abortion, immigration, gun control and religion will be their primary targets.
All the issues that divide a nation and cause arguments and dissent.

If they were serious they would advocate replacing all coal fired power plants with modern safe nuclear power. They would also be willing to try adding iron dust to areas of the oceans that are almost lifeless. This would result in a huge increase in plankton and could in theory remove up to a sixth of all CO2 from the atmosphere.
It's funny the only solution they seem willing to try is a tax.:headscratch:

If they are truly worried about CO2 levels, they'd be as concerned about carbon sinks as well as carbon sources. Brazil farmers slash and burn thousands of acres of rainforest while the government there loosens laws that protect them. Any mention in the IPCC report about that? I don't think so.

When the IPCC and the U.N. talk about cutting carbon emissions, all eyes turn to the U.S. We're the ones that have to change, not China or India, which produce much more CO2. No, this is about one thing: Punishing the U.S. That's always been the goal of the U.N.

    1. Visit the IPCC website. You come away with a few impressions. One of the impressions will be that it is a bureaucratic nightmare that was supposed to have a temporary existence for one report about 1988 and has grown into expanding nightmare.
    2. Please give consideration to my oft repeated proposal that the United Nations operations in NY City and Geneva be moved to Kenya. It would reduce the number of spies in both cities, reduce congestion, terminate the problem of unpaid traffic citations earned by international saviors, provide better housing opportunities for locals. It would also afford the few people willing to live in a backwoods/backwards environment kudos for actual sacrifices.

Sounds like any typical government program that is started to "benefit" our existence.

Get the US out of the UN and get the UN out of the US.

Turn the UN building into subsidized housing for druggies and hookers. They would be a better class of resident than what is occupying it now.

How much money will we save by defunding and deporting the UN?
