Ummmm... little hard to even begin to discuss this, since they don't link to, give a title for, or mention the date of the original study (usually strong signs that a news story about a study is BS).

But even without looking at it, you barely need to be able to count to see that this is incorrect.

1 in 19 million (without any time element stated) would mean that 17.2 people out of 328 million americans had died, if you spread the odds across ALL americans.

Since they specified that this applies to Americans 50-64 years of age, for this to be true, we'd have deaths in that age range as a fraction of the 17.2 deaths.

NOBODY, ANYWHERE, claims that Covid has killed 17 Americans total, much less a fraction of that. Even if you (incorrectly) think the numbers are inflated, they're not 10,000x inflated.

Do these people think their readers are too stupid to count?

This isn't even math... it's just counting.

It says for AVERAGE 50-64 year olds. Take away the people who have serious comorbidity problems. Also, I would hope that any study has taken into account that our fatality numbers are VERY flawed.

Yep. Fake news. Absurd numbers. This was extrapolated using the number of deaths in June vs uncorrected numbers from a Stanford study using a Chinese junk antibody test that flagged positive for the common cold. Disinformation for people too dumb to figure it out.

At this point it is very hard to know what to think as this is as much a political issue as medical. It seems clear that both sides are just willing to make stuff up using imaginary numbers. One thing to remember is most of the world is not going through a Trump/ Biden election. The numbers from outside the U.S. might be more reliable once you factor in third world countries without real medical systems might under report.
