the meat of the article is with advancing technology unlocking more previously unreachable supply of oil and a increase in cheap natural gas by 2035 the U.S. will actually be self sufficient in energy

its going to be strange not relying on the middle east for oil. just food for thought if we didn't need the middle east oil would we bother helping Kuwait liberate their country from Iraq or escort tankers during the Iran-Iraq War. would we even be so called friends with the Saudi Arabia when 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi

it would be a different foreign policy than what we see now

Like we will not protect the "U.S. money" invested there by "big" U.S. investors.

Get the production up and running, then pull back our military around the world, especially the Middle East and let everyone else pay the high cost of energy after the ME degenerates into a Road Warrior existence.

Meanwhile, with the cost of energy way less than anywhere else worldwide, we undercut and outproduce/export everyone else in the world, including the Chinese like we did in the 1950's.

Tired of protecting the seas and oil fields worldwide low oil prices to subsidize Chinese manufacturers with cheap energy to put us out of work.

It may actually be a good thing that we're not drilling as much as we could be in our own country. It would make sense that if there's a finite supply of oil in the world, we should try to use up the rest of the world's oil before we start tapping into our own.

    Here....right now.
True. That would actually make good sense, many nations would then flock to us then for oil, it may be the only way to reduce our outrageous deficit by then.
