You are an American representing America. If you want to wave your Mexican flag back at home fine, but there is no place for that over there. Very disrespectful!

I didn't even know Mexico had athletes. I thought anyone who could run, jump or swim was already over here.

Was watching the other night and a guy had won a gold in track. He was born in NY and raised in CA. Yet he was running for the Dominican Republic.

There are a number of US residents and even citizens competing for other countries. Generally it's because either the athlete or a parent is a citizen of a foreign country. IIRC, Greece was picking up American baseball players with Greek heritage just to field a team when they hosted the games.

The last paragraph of that article is what I have been saying for years. Don't run around waving the Mexican flag when you and your family fled from that country.

In this part of the country, it's a similar situation, but with Cuban flags. Add to the mix the Wet Foot/Dry Foot policy, and you can get some very heated arguments.

    He is not representing both.

He is supported by, and a member of the United States of America Olympic Team, and should understand this. We are not representing Mexico, they field their own athletes. Shame.

I saw that as well, and was all like, WTF?:crying::shocked::steamed:

The Olympics are a joke. Professional athletes competing in what is supposed to be an amateur competition, synchronized swimming, national pride replaced by national greed.

    It all disgusts me.

Well said, and it applies on so many levels and to so many of these "heritage" celebrations.

When he gets home, strip his citizenship and deport him back to the country he wants to represent in the Olympics.

Have a great gun carryin' Kenpo day

Yeah that is rediculous. I remember a distance runner from some African country that would do the same thing. He wore a pin that was half of a U.S. flag and half of an Etrian (I think thats how its spelled?) flag. That is a bunch of BS!! Either you are an American or not. There is no room for hyphenated Americanism. Asian-American, Irish-American, Mexican-American, or African-American.

Why bother waving a flag? He should have ran with a sombrero and a donkey.

Ban all Mexicans in US Olympic Teams next time around. This guy tries to capture attention , he could be member of La Raza. THe best he could do is recant what he said. The fact he gets paid by US taxpayers he nees to act acdg to our US OC bylaws. Fck these illegals who still cling to their illegal mindsets.
