I went to my LGS for the first time in quite a while. I was surprised by 2 things.

    1. I looked at a Beretta APX and when I picked it up I was blown away by how comfortable it felt in the hand. I actually said "wow!" Out loud. I think my next gun is decided.

    2. Out of dozens and dozens of handguns for sale, they had just one .40 left. Everything else was 9s and a few .45s scattered around (not counting the 1911 case.). I asked them about it and they said they stock what sells. That demand for .40s has really plummeted and that it's more of a competition caliber now. I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only fan of .40 left.

We dropped the .40 in 2012 for the .45 which got dropped for the 9mm less than five months ago. Several other local agencies have dropped the .40 as well. 9mm is the current hot thing in law enforcement for the time being. An employee of GT's said they can't keep 9s in stock and can't give away .40s anymore.

I've been eyeing a SIG P226 in 40 at my LGS. They want $400 for it, and I might get it, but my goal would be to convert it to 357 SIG.

Both local agencies issue .45. Sig 1911s for city and glock 21s for county.

    The APX is a sleeper.
The triggers seem to lighten up a bit with use.
So far mine has been 100%.

40 is so out of favor here that our largest toy store recently offered a free G22 LE trade in with the purchase of either of two specified Springfield XDm 40 cal guns. And, the Springfields were on sale.

Get the APX . I love mine. Mine has been as reliable as my Glocks. My APX will eat anything I feed it. It has very few parts and its removable fire control system is way more simpler than the SIG P320 and the Ruger American. Heres my APX apx.jpg

Arrghh. That Beretta APX is really a sleeper. For one people may still have reservations because of the other Beretta designs that some gun owners hated. Comparing the APX to the newer 9mms' that came out at this, I'd say the APX is a better choice. It may look ugly but the handling is outstanding (trigger and ergo).

EXACTLY !!! People seem to ignore the APX because of the other Beretta pistols. I have had several Berettas and liked them all except the 9000. The new APX is totally different and is like a whole new Beretta gun , which it is . There are no finger grooves but it does have little small raised portions on the sides of the grips. This works great for both people that like and dislike grooves. It eats my reloads like candy and I just love it. It's like the Ford SHO in the late 80's early 90's . Definitely a sleeper and will certainly surprise you.

probably because it just doesnt have the support & accessories and proven reputation of others, still too new, they will probably discontinue it in a short time

it wont be around for 30 plus years like the GLOCK

it's kind of an "oddball" here today gone tomorrow kind of thing.

Thanks! It was actually a snap I took in a bar. You can't see it but, she was reclining on a black leather lounger in a club that was painted black on black.

There are some guys on here who hate pictures of my wife or me talking about her with admiration. I just chalk it up to bitterness. I figure they are unhappy with their own relationship, or worse don't have one and still think "playing the game" is where its at. Either that or they just don't like to see happily married people. Dunno. Pretty sure I've blocked most of them at this point though. LOL
