the company is owned by a hedge fund. if the employees worked for $0, they would still try to squeze them.

    Supply and demand.

When I can higher a high school dropout to do a job for minimum wage with no benefits and have them lining up around the block for the job, I don't see a need to pay any more than minimum wage. (If minimum wage in MX is .80 plus 2 meals, that is the minimum.)

Then tack on if I can move the job to a place where it costs less to manufacture my good and ship it to the end client I will.

Now, the question becomes how much should import taxes be on the product. Should we limit the importation of ammunition and arms from China to protect our gun industry? How about cars, lets stop the importation of complete cars?

What you are talking about is socialism. You should be happy the election turned out the way it did.

Well that's a dumb statement but I have to ask: Is hedge fund a bad word in your world or something?

I'll continue to boycott all UAW products until they get completely out of my country.

Hopefully, the union members will never again find jobs.

no RW Blue, I am in Alabama and I can assure you I voted Romney.

I'm just saying that all these companies who do this in Mexico would do the same in the U.S. if they could. And I'm asking if you are too stupid to understand.

A company can't do anything to you that you don't agree to (unless the government gets involved).

What you seem to think or suggest is poor treatment in Mexico is a win-win for both parties. Those Mexican workers are glad to have that package. THAT'S WHY THEY AGREED TO GO TO WORK.

In the U.S. you have the same luxury: Accept terms of employment or decline and pursue another......or work for yourself. Everyone must make that determination for themselves. If someone offers you .80 and 2 meals, and its better than the other options you have, you take it and be grateful.

Lets face it....making ding dongs is low level work requiring no particular skills or education. We don't need American workers making ding dongs. We especially don't need them unionized. That kind of work should be done in Mexico.

Apparently American workers agree because they weren't willing to accept compensation that is congruent with the value of the job being performed.

I would do some research before spewing lies. The Teamsters were able to look at the books and immediately settled and went back to work. they say that what the company has put out is true.

Not yet. The Baker's Union is still on strike. The Teamsters are calling for a secret vote. They think most want to return to work.

All this talk of Ding Dong's finally sent me to the corner stop-n-rob to check things out. Bad news is that they didn't have any Hostess products in stock. Good news is that the whore Little Debbie makes Ding Dong Duplicates. They look exactly the same.

I picked up 4 for market research. Gimme 10 and I'll report back.

A companies responsibility is to it's stock holders so of course companies will try to reduce labor costs where they can.

If you are trying to say that a company should not reduce the cost as much as possible and should not be held responsible to the stockholders, you are a socialist.

If this is the case, you should be true to yourself and should have voted for Obama. He is the more socialist candidate.

    We have a problem.

The little Debbie creme filled chocolate cupcakes were a disappointment. The cupcake itself is ok but the filling is less a "cream" filling and more of a marshmellow cream.

I at 2 of them just to see if the first was an anomalie

Its all about the cream filling. Whatever happens they need to get that plant up and running. US, Mexico, I really don't care.

Certi, I believe it is the other way around.

There is a reason Europe is in as much trouble as it is in. They have implemented socialist policies and the companies want to ship the work over seas. They shipped some of it to the USA.

There are several companies making almost the same stuff. I am sure the ding dong vaccume will be filled.

If not, write little Debbie and see if she will make some the way you like. It could be a way of increasing their market share.

If they make Ding Dongs in Mexico they better not have chiles or beans in them. It would taste terrible.

Well no, he's right. I'm no expert on international trade and he may be. I don't know.

What I do know is what I've stated. I've never had an employer chain me to a machine or force me to work for terms I didn't find agreeable. I also know that if I owned the Ding Dong factory I would move it to Mexico and make the Ding Dongs as cheaply as possible, ESPECIALLY if I had to deal with a union in the U.S. I'd be willing to bet you can train a monkey to make Ding Dongs in an automated bakery.

Furthermore, the investors in the company require a certain return on their investment. If they can't get it they will move their money to another venture.

If I did move it to Mexico, I would offer just slightly above the prevailing wage and the Mexican workers would love me and call me Senor Ding Dong.
