I hate commercials and haven't watched live TV in 2 years. I set timers for all of my shows. Seeing as the average 30min tv block has 12mins of commercial breaks I can watch alot more of my shows when you skip the commercials.

Lately it appears some shows are starting and stopping at funny times so that your timers miss the beginning or end of the show.

Pretty sneaky if you ask me.

They been doing this a while. Some DVRs will even give the option to start a minute or two sooner.

I program to start a min early and end a min late, 62 mins per show and it makes sure everything is there.

When recording shows I always start early and go 15 minutes late. You just KNOW there is going to be a delay from some sports game and I will miss end.

I don't think so...not yet anyway. When enough people jump aboard these DVR deals I assume we will see commercials overlaid (more than they already are) right on screen with the program - maybe in a moving box to make it that much more fun.

that plus some of the On Demand shows no longer allow you to fast forward and they have commercials...

I dumped TV years ago. Most everything on TV is crap or rehashed crap. The rest is crap commercials that I don't care about in the least. I can't stand advertising during the program either.

The thing I hate the most are infomercials. :steamed:

I mean seriously.... I get home at 3:30AM. I sit down to eat and watch TV and what's on? Nothing but crap infomercials.:steamed:

Needless to say, they won't be getting my money ever again. They can shove their crap where the sun don't shine.

Always start early / end late on DirecTV DVR.

If a sporting event playoff game (Super Rugby FTW!) I'll add an extra hour or two for overtime.

I think SpikeTV has show times like 5:33 - 6:04. Hmmmm.
