I carry a full size 1911, and I'd rather buy a holster than a pocket gun. I don't want to wear a shoulder rig either.

Does anyone have experience with a good IWB holster that can be used with a beltless tuxedo? I've looked at some of the boutique makers (Del Fatti, Alessi, Tucker, Milt Sparks, 5shot etc...) , but haven't found anything I like (all leather).

Thanks!

Don't even think about carrying in a tuxedo unless you also carry a silencer to screw on the second you unholster the pistol. Anything less is entirely unacceptable.

But in all seriousness, I think shoulder holster is the way to go unless you downsize your pistol.

I wear a suit everyday to work (not a tuxedo, of course). I pocket carry a Glock 19. Suit pants are big. I've even pocket carried my SA Loaded 5" 1911 with a suit on. Only did it to try it. No holster for the 1911, just gravity. You can try it.

Besides that option, I say buy a cheap shoulder holster, but it might print with the jacket depending on how it's been fit.

I've wrestled with this many times, have tried ankle, smartcarry, pockey carry etc. Will you be wearing a cumberbun? <sp Will you be drinking?

you have nothing smaller than a 1911?
I always recommend the highnoon Mr Softy.
I dont carry to black tie events, to me it;s worth playing the odds. If I owned a kel tec P11 I might tho...

I used a smartcarry to tote my full size Glock while wearing a tux.
Beltless? Need some good, reliable suspenders, whatever and however you carry. Carrying uudner a tax is a lot easier than under just a T-shirt. I use to be a violinist and carried on the stage during performace when I had to go to some bad part of the city for gigs. I wore a belt under the comberband, and carried on the strong side, no one would notice.

I was just best man at my buddy's wedding. I couldn't figure out a way to carry in the tux. I wasn't going to buy a special holster for one afternoon in a tux so I just changed into a suit after the ceremony. I could carry my "Sunday go to meeting" gun in a nice holster that way.

Usually, when I have to wear a Tux or Army Mess dress I take my wife's S&W 442 and the Kramer pocket holster for it and place in in the pocket of my trousers. It works good for me! I find it handy for other occasions as well. Normally, I carry a Glock 27 in a belt slide holster.(X-Concealment C Model)

Normally a tux or Military Mess dress are worn with suspenders, most Tux outfits do not have belt loops.
