I'm not sure if this is the problem but it's all I can think of. My grandkids like to get to the computer and immulate me tapping (typing) on the keyboard. Problem is that I'm finding when I return that many programs are altered.

1st problem I find so disconcerting is that I can't open multible windows anymore,

    2nd I can't find my calculator

I'm sure that they are just hitting random keys and creating all these problems but I need to know how to prevent this in the future...

I realize the ultimate cure is not to let them access the puter but where it's set up that's not possible and I can't be home 24/7. I have been able to lock up the computer it's self but the keyboard is the issue...

Hide this part from them when you aren't around.

    That always works.

Seriously, what OS are you using?

If you use a password with your user account, use Windows Key + L to lock the computer.

if that doesn't work, use this:
