I have a 92 Katana 600, my first bike. I wrecked it last summer, and it's just now getting out of the shop (because of location), having gotten only mechanical work done.

I don't want to spend more than the bike is worth in farings, bodywork, etc. I want to turn it into a street fighter. What things do I need to worry about? Will the open-ness of the bike create enough airflow to power the thing? (I know that a lot of farings funnel air to the intake)

What sort of mods do I need to make?

it currently doesn't have any body work, except for the tail section.

Your Katana isn't based on any of the SRAD (Suzuki Ram Air Direct) technology. SRAD came out later so the fairings just look pretty.

Take a look at the Suzuki Bandit. It's basically a naked Katana.

Lockhart Phillips has a very cool headlight mount. I've got one on my '92 GSXR1100 with a Bandit(non S) headlight. Looks great. If my brother comes over with his camera, I'll post pics.

Get some sort of bar risers or handle bar adapters so that you can put a dirt bike handle bar on it.

Maybe chop off the unused tail section? I've seen a Hayabusa with the tail end chopped off and it's rather funky looking in a good way.
