Tula Brass Maxx ammo

    Walmart had some Tula Ammo Brass Maxx in 45 ACP 230gr FMJ and .40 170gr FMJ. According to the box this stuff is made in Italy. Both were about $20 per 50rd box and I have a good supply of both calibers so I didn't buy any; has anyone used this ammo and is it any good?

    Sorry, but I had to. Anyways, I've never heard of the stuff and am curious as well.

    I noticed it yesterday at Walmart. At $.40 a round it is to expensive at this point for me. Maybe when my stockpile dwindles. ;)

    My local Wally world had it in .223 for $17/50. My Russian buddy says it's good stuff. Haven't used it myself (yet)

    They had probably 20 100rd boxes of WWB 9mm a few days ago of which I bought the 3 box limit since the price was ok at about 24.50. I should've asked to look at the box to see exactly what the Tula was and who made it but I was in a hurry

    Sounds like TulaAmmo's version of Wolf's Gold line which is made in Serbia by Prvi Partizan. I'll say that $20 for 50rds of 45acp isn't too shabby right now considering the ammo shortage.

    Its been tough to find brass .45 for less than $20 for a year or so now. The exception being steel cased ammo.

    I would buy some for that price and give it a try.

    So would I for the price. I've got plenty stocked up but if it ever appeared at my local Wally World, I'd buy some.

    i noticed a bunch of it @ 1 of my local wal-marts, i did'nt buy any just because of the name.
    it deff caught my eye because of the flashy colors on the box & that was pretty much all they had on that perticular shelf.
    i've heard a few reports of guy's having no troubles with the tula brand, but then there's the other side of the story & getting actual reports from dealers refusing to sell it.
    so i guess it's a enter at your own risk kinda deal..

    I saw Tula Brass 40 S&W at a Wal-mart near me. They wanted $20 for 50 rounds. High for Tula, but okay when you take into account the current shortage issues.

    I passes on the 40 S&W and picked up a 500 round brick of Winchester 22 long and 3/20 boxes of Olin 5.56. Both 22 long and the 5.56 were not at Walmart. Found them in a gun store in St. Louis.

    Wal-Mart just stretching their acquisition net far and wide to get ammo to bring to the stores.

    The ammo itself looks ok although the brass itself is not nearly as quality looking or feeling as American ammo. Looks a little less quality than say the brass ammo from Wolf.

    In today's world for the price it is a great deal.

    Yeah - I did a double take when I saw it in 40 & 45 at Wally. Not something I needed but I almost bought a box of each to see what was up?!

    I ran 150 rounds of Brassmaxx through my Gen 3 23 and had zero issues. I'd buy it again, but I've not found it in stock since the day I bought my first three boxes.

    i picked up 1 box of .40 tula brass the other day, it was the only .40 they had on the shelf.

    I ran 50 rounds of this load through my piston AR last week, with no stoppages or any other problems. Averaged 2-inch 5-shot groups at 100 yards (off a sandbag rest on a concrete table, using a zero-power optic), which is about par for this gun (rarely shoots better than that with anything). Ejection wasn't as forceful as M193/XM-193 5.56mm stuff; about the same as the Federal .223 black-box FMJ.

    @ $17 for 50, I'll buy it again (if I ever see any; I bought this 3-box batch about two months ago).

    What ammo shortage?? I'm still happily loading 45acp ball for $9/50 rounds.
