    all I need is a 10/22 and a blade.

Kidding aside, Id take an AR pistol for short range on the city here. Then a pump shotgun for when they wont back up. My 590 and AR pistol together was only a hair over 1k...Im gonna cheat and say those 2

    Depends on the situation.

Assuming I need to be outside and there is an elevated risk of Civil unrest but there's nothing currently in progress...

Glock 19 with as many mags as I can comfortably and effectively conceal on my person.

Assuming I have a need to go outside, after the rioting starts and the police are no where to be found...

Glock 19 with a duty belt and chest rig holding a "definitely going to have the DA looking at me funny" amount of loaded magazines; worn under a jacket to hide the extra bulk. If I get to use my existing mags and ammo, I'd use the extra $$$ to upgrade to a pistol brace of some sort for the G19 (Micro-Roni, Flux, Endo Tactical, etc.).

Assuming I'm at home while society is "taking a dump on the fan"...

PSA AR-15; 16" upper in 5.56 with A2 sight post, UTG rear sight, a UTG red/green dot, a 1/2" aluminum riser for co-witnessing, a mounted LED flashlight and a full tang bayonet. Add on a 3.5 lb (or lighter) trigger, and a muzzle break if I get to use my own mags and ammo or 12 aluminum GI mags loaded with m193 if I don't.

    Civil unrest doesn't concern me.
    Criminal unrest concerns me.

Yes, Maverick 88 with Magpul stock. The sling stud was already on the shotgun and I have not removed it. Uncertain if a washer is needed.

Can’t discount the visual of an AR or AK with the ‘banana clip’ hanging out. That little ‘J’ frame taint gonna be in the same league.

OBTW, keep your German Shepherd at your side too.

Thanks. I actually have a nice double barrel side by side that I grouse hunt with. But my son and I both have Mavericks 88s and they have both performed exceptionally well through the years. For around $200 bucks they are a heck of a deal.

My old Glock 17L. Why? It's reliable and I find it ridiculously easy to shoot well. It gets added bonus for being lightweight (like a lot of polymer frames, of course), has less blast, soups up most ammo and I already have it and am used to it.

    Glock 19 and Ruger PCC.

    Mags work on both.

For $1,000 I can easily get a 5.56 AR and a Glock, so why would I want anything else?

    What's with everybody saying "for $1,000 I'd get a $200 Chinese gun" - ?????

If you are good with what you choose, you should be able to get anything else you need(from bad guys) in short order. ffr1910

That might be tough right now. ARs just aren't out there. Parts are even a ***** to find.

Around here the AR + Glock would put you over $1000 if you had to buy both. Even a Del-Ton AR was going ~$450 before the craziness happened. I think I'm at $550 in my Anderson/PSA/Bushmaster mongrel. Could have gone cheaper on the upper but I kinda had to get what I could find. Plus I'm a stickler for chrome lined barrels on ARs for combat/zombie apocalypse.

    And ammo......sheeeesh.

A couple of Hi-Point Carbines and about ten magazines and a case of ammo. I'll still have hundreds left over.

OP said pre-panic prices... No way I could get that today. I've still seen used Glocks going for about $500 post-panic.
