My friend has been documenting a dude that comes every Tuesday night at around 3:00am and parks then gets out and walks around the neighborhood checking people’s car doors. If unlocked he will take what’s in it of value (change, electronics, etc). Documented, caught on several videos, clear shot of his face, clear shot of the tag number of his car. Reported to Police first back in June. Reported every week with video evidence etc. nothing done. Still comes every Tuesday. They won’t listen to me or let me hid out on his roof and paintball the ****er when he comes. Wife is afraid it will make him come back with backup and take revenge. Answer me this, what kind of dude would get painted balled the **** up and hear “next time it won’t be paintballs mother****er” as he is running away would come back and **** with that home owner again? Nothing cool ever happens at my house.
You would likely only be prosecuted if your booby trap maimed or killed the trespasser. Giving a harmless shock or a superficial injury would pass the reasonableness test, methinks. It's illegal to boobytrap your property.

You could just put a sticker on the sign saying something like, WARNING: SHARP EDGES. DO NOT HANDLE. It's not your fault if some dipstick can't read.
Well, where I live, I think the jury would be on my side. Also, if he wants to sue, he has to identify himself and leave himself open to prosecution. It will still be your fault even if you warn them. I agree, practical joke level boobytraps are not the same as razor blades or even the blank firing device above.
There's no reason to steal Trump signs ,just ask and you can get them free.My neighborhood has a community Facebook page that I just joined. In a lot of ways, it's a nosy neighbors page. But, I saw a notice this morning that someone had stolen Trump campaign signs out of some yards. I don't know how many, but I've only seen maybe two yards with the signs.
The nosy neighbors apparently have a description of the car, the occupants, and a tag number. So, we'll see where this goes.
A jury decides if it's illegal. Besides, the great thing about having $$$ is that paying the moron a few thousand means nothing to me, but now I KNOW WHO HE IS. :animlol:Or a backhoe and a couple acres of land. Point being it's illegal and not worth the hassle over a stupid sign IMO.
