Well, there are 7 billion people on the planet. This is a world initiative, right? Even if you consider only 5 billion able bodied adults, that every person planting a tree every 18 days. Are you suggesting we can’t get that done, as a species? Or is this more of a commentary on how there’s no way in hell are we going to get enough people on board to make it happen? If it’s the latter, I agree with you. You probably don’t think it’s a good allocation of resources, and neither do I.

Because the "Three Million Six Hundred Fifty Thousand Trees" initiative, though far more realistic, doesn't have the same ring to it.

If we dont plant tree`s, some wont be able to heat their homes, or even build new homes, add on to our homes, shade from the sun in the hot summers. Tree`s, whether we like them or not, we do need them. Hey, a man also uses the wood from tree`s to smoke a rack of ribs, smoke a brisket, smoke some bacon. Damn man, plant some damn tree`s!

However wrong the math is, I like the initiative. I moved into my current home in 2012 and since have added over 20 trees to my already over "Treed" lot.

You can't imagine the wildlife I have living in my 1-1/2 acre yard since, and I'm smack dab in the suburbs of SA.

    ........................... now, if I only had a suppressor. ;)

Probably is. I remember our former mayor, name used in college was Tony Villar, and changed to gain votes: ps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonio_Villaraigosa

He only promised 1,000,000 trees. The small fraction actually planted during his tenure was normal replacement only.

So, R.B., it seems that grandiose promises and generously taking credit for everything that credit may be taken is not limited to the politicians of one specific party.

It probably would have been better for Tony to be elected governor. He would have spent more time on extracurricular activities than the current governor (who had his own notorious affair-look it up yourself). And less Democratic supported legislation would make it through the state legislature.

Get those Darling 58 approved by FDA, then we can talk. The Appalachians lost 4 billion trees to Chestnut blight........................sounds like a good place to start. Let's get those "redwoods of the east" going.

I don't think we will get to the trillion mark, but overall seems like a good thing to me.
