I know they're both made by Troy, the only apparent difference I see is that the VTAC has the oval vents and the Troy has circular? Is the weight any different? Also, how do they attach? Troy touts them as installing in under two minutes, so I'm assuming there's no messing with the barrel nut?
Yes you must use their barrel nut, slide the rail back over the nut, spin it CCW until it touches the receiver then the float clamps to the barrel nut with 2 screws. They are right about 2 minutes. The VTAC TRX feels smoother in the hand, very little difference in weight. From the looks of the today's builds they are pretty popular.
Damn. They look really nice, I just don't have the setup to replace the barrel nut. Oh well, maybe later.
