After I get back from the academy my wife wants to get our GSD trained to guard or attack someone if they were to come in the house unwanted. I don't know of any trainers in my area. Anyone have any advice? Hes only 15 weeks old. I don't really know if he needs to be trained or he will be protective by instinct anyway.

he will probably be protective by instinct. at the very least he'll be a great alarm.

i'd make sure your wife knows how to handle a gun and leave the rest to the pup

Go through regular obedience training first, heel, sit, down, etc.

Ditto on the protective instinct part.
