I've written several times about all the problems I had with my SIG Mosquito. After 6x back to SIG they finally replaced it with a new gun. Although I liked many things about the gun it just kept breaking down on me. I read good things about the Bersa .22's and have owned a couple of their .380's over the years and been very pleased with them.
Got it yesterday/ I cleaned and lubed it. Took it to the range and fired 300+ rounds of Remington Golden and 100 rounds of Federal Bulk pack. Not a single problem from the first round on. Feed, fired, and ejected every round. I'm very pleased with it to say the least. Shot from 5-12 yards. Very accurate for a little gun. I bought the Mossquito as a sub caliber trainer for my bigger P-Series guns.
As I said it just wouldn't hold up to all the rounds I shot through it. Shame becaus their is allot to like about the gun. No the Bersa is not as near the same feel as the P-series in the hand. But it is a very smooth DA/SA trigger pull. I have an AA kit for sub caliber practice with my
Glocks. An M&P .22 15 for sub caliber training for my M4. Plus a Rugr 22/45 for single action practice. So I'm good to go.
Another thing about this gun. I've worked with some people with hand strength problems and all they could shoot was a .22. I usually have them get a Ruger .22 and load it with CCI Stingers and get real good with it. Works for hom defense. Not so good for carry. If you are in a situation where .22 is all you can shoot this is a great carry gun. Small, accurate, and reliable. In fact a friend at the range is from South America. He says they can only carry .22's because no "military/police" calibers are allowed. He said tons of people trust their lives to the little .22 Bersa's. I'd give it 5 out of 5 stars.

I really like mine, although it's only 100% reliable with the high velocity CCI stuff....Velocitors, Stingers, etc.

It's not my first choice for CC, but I feel pretty sure 10 rds. of 40 gr. velocitors would stop most threats if fired in breathing distance.

I just bought it for training. After having problems with a P22 a couple of years ago and the above mentioned Mosquito of recent experience. the Bersa is a breath of fresh air. When working both the Walther and the SIG were very picky about ammo. Both had Zinc slides and parts. Both had multiple problems. The Bersa has a steel frame, an alumnum slide, and seems to fire everything I put through it. It felt great to not have to deal with mags dropping out, triggers not going forward after firing, fte, ftf, and on and on.
I'm not advocating a .22 for self defense for most folks. But I've run into folks with hand strength problems that a .22 is all they could shoot. If they ccw the small Bersa with Stingers or Vipers and it is the most they can handle for them it's a good choice. As others have said 11 of the Vipers or Stingers in the face, neck and head would more than likely accomplish what you need it to. Like I said not an ideal choice. But for some it's a .22 or nothing. This one is light, reliable, and accurate. If you must carry a .22 it's a good choice.

Had something sad happen a couple of weeks ago. A friends son who was suffering from depression decided to shoot himself. He used a .22 to the side of the head. The bullet penetrated one side of the head but not the other. Sent small bullet fragment all through his head. As we all know the little bullets can sometimes do allot of damage.

Just wanted to add....that .22 sounds much louder than one would think a .22 should.

Maybe it's the HV boolits, don't know. But, It certainly got my attention the one time I wasn't wearing ear protection.

Also, it's a breeze to clean!

Nice little pistol; feels like a real gun as opposed to the Mosquito (and a lot of others). Mine's reliable and shoots Remington and Federal bulk, which is very convenient, but a lot of people have had to cut coils off the recoil spring in order for theirs to do the same. If you search for answers, you'll probably find 'em. The only downside seems to be availability and price of mags, when you can find them.

Congrats!

Like others I went through the same path: I bought a Walther P22, being a big fan of Walther's I didn't do much research, why bother? I had no idea it wasn't even made by Walther. Anyway, I sold it and decided that researching was the only smart way.

Now a Rueger is the standard, no doubt. But I found them a gigantic pain to field strip, and so no life is too short. Buckmark on the list but not there yet. So I got a Bersa Thunder and a Beretta Neos. Very happy with both, and I feel in a very good shape. I also have a conversion kit for my 92's. They are very different guns, but share four attributes. They are:
- reliable
- accurate
- easy to field strip
- built to serious standards

I am not Doubting that Rueger's are better, but I feel very happy with the Bersa which replicates exactly my 380, and is a pleasure to shoot. As it has been said, with the right ammo could even be carried if other options are not available.

Surprising that two 'noble houses' such as Sig and Walther are behind the humble Bersa; not surprising at all for Beretta though, they rock.

That's tragic. I'm sorry to hear it, and prayers for friends and family.
