I've written several times about all the problems I had with my SIG Mosquito. After 6x back to SIG they finally replaced it with a new gun. Although I liked many things about the gun it just kept breaking down on me. I read good things about the Bersa .22's and have owned a couple of their .380's over the years and been very pleased with them.
Got it yesterday/ I cleaned and lubed it. Took it to the range and fired 300+ rounds of Remington Golden and 100 rounds of Federal Bulk pack. Not a single problem from the first round on. Feed, fired, and ejected every round. I'm very pleased with it to say the least. Shot from 5-12 yards. Very accurate for a little gun. I bought the Mossquito as a sub caliber trainer for my bigger P-Series guns.
As I said it just wouldn't hold up to all the rounds I shot through it. Shame becaus their is allot to like about the gun. No the Bersa is not as near the same feel as the P-series in the hand. But it is a very smooth DA/SA trigger pull. I have an AA kit for sub caliber practice with my
Glocks. An M&P .22 15 for sub caliber training for my M4. Plus a Rugr 22/45 for single action practice. So I'm good to go.
Another thing about this gun. I've worked with some people with hand strength problems and all they could shoot was a .22. I usually have them get a Ruger .22 and load it with CCI Stingers and get real good with it. Works for hom defense. Not so good for carry. If you are in a situation where .22 is all you can shoot this is a great carry gun. Small, accurate, and reliable. In fact a friend at the range is from South America. He says they can only carry .22's because no "military/police" calibers are allowed. He said tons of people trust their lives to the little .22 Bersa's. I'd give it 5 out of 5 stars.
