Thinking of getting rid of a 229, want to get a g36 plus some ammo.

would you do it??? or would you keep the sig?

I did it. And am very happy...no after regret.

Don't get me wrong, though. Sig makes a good gun. They have many, many good qualities.

But let's get right down to wear the rubber meets the road.

Which is easier to clean, i.e., field strip and/or detail strip? Glock!

Which is easier to carry...double stack or single stack? Glock 36 single stack!

Which is lighter to carry? Glock.

Which mags are more accessible and cheaper? Glock

And which gun can you go out and spend only 15 bucks to lighten the trigger? Glock.

I could go on and on with regard to accessories, reliability, lower bore axis profile, etc.

I think you know my bias here. I love Glock. I carry Glock EDC to protect me and my Sam Dog. I have peace of mind.

I've had a couple of 220's and they're nice guns. But you could fit my model 36 inside of a 220 and have room to spare. No contest. I carry my G36 concealed...easily. It's even smaller than my G19, and that's a great gun also.

I have a 19 and a 26, the sig ends up staying home for many of the reasons mentioned above ESPECIALLY CLEANING!!!!....im not a collector, I like to consider myself a shooter.....

Get a P245 :)
I'd keep the Sig. If you're dead set on 45acp in a smaller pkg, I like kayl's suggestion of a P245.
I carry my 19 daily and haven't shot my 229 in quite some time and the glock is more then likely a better option for you. That being said the sig is worth considerably more then the glock and unless it is a signifigant amount of ammo you would be getting the short end of the stick.

If the OP waits until Friday, I'll post pics of my (New) P220, P245, and Glock 23 for size comparisons.
I would keep the Sig, I like the way the 229 feels versus the Glock 36. Good luck with your choice

I am a big SIG fan. been using SIG since 1987. Couple of weeks ago a G30 entered my life..The G30 is my now favorite handgun. Up to you, but I would buy a G36 instead of trade a P229 for it.
Dont trade the Sig 229 , you will regrety it. Save the money and buy a 36
If I had a G36, I'd swap it to you for the SIG in a heartbeat.
Which pistol do you shoot better?
Also, which fits your hand better? I ask because I had a 36 for two months or so....GREAT pistol, concealable, nice recoil, .45 in a small easy package....but I have medium to long hands/fingers (calm down ladies) and the 36 just didn't fit as natural for me as the double stacks or my 1911's with thick grips....
