So, I do alot of video work for a large, local Toyota dealership (the owner is one of the 6 going in front of congress) and asked the GM yesterday while there how many pedals have had issues so far (they've inspected over 500 with 0 problems so far). His reply: 8 out of 1.6 million inspected. That's right 8! Can we say a mountain out of an anthole?

It's a mountain if yours is one of the eight.

I would still buy a Toyota before any American vehicle.

    Please clarify....

Out of 1.6 million recalled/inspected pedals - only 8 have been replaced, and the other 1,599,992 have been deemed roadworthy and w/o defect...?
    - or -
Out of 1.6 millioned recalled/inspected pedals - only 8 have led to (fatal/catastrophic) failures...?

I can see this has now become an emotional issue, where the facts will be skewed beyond stupidity in either direction, depending on who is talking.

Just like most issues in the media.

Before the recall was announced, out of all the complaints made, there was only 8 found to be faulty. That is what he meant to say.
